    From cbssports.com:

"A new team could settle in as a fourth team in the talks and Berger says that could be Detroit. Sources tell Ken the Nuggets inquired several weeks ago about the availability of Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince — with a focus on Prince, whose $11.1 million contract is expiring and would provide some savings for the Nuggets. At the time, Pistons president Joe Dumars quickly dismissed the deal. But according to Ken, there’s a chance Detroit’s mind could change with reports this week that the team will be sold to Tigers and Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch."

How do you not do this deal if you’re Detroit?  Or at least consider it and not "quickly dismiss it?"  Prince is expiring and Hamilton’s contract is not the best.  Even if Melo doesn’t resign, at least you get to shed Hamilton’s contract.  I don’t know why Dumars thinks the Pistons are ok as they are constructed right now.  Their rebuilding sucked.  At least this could help start the re-rebuilding.  And for the love of God if they could only get rid of Villanueva too.  They would have a fun little team to watch…

    Melo, Gordon, McGrady, Stuckey, Monroe

good point….even if there is a zero percent chance of melo resigning it would still be a good trade….I guess Detroit will repeat mistakes of 03

Maybe it’s not that Detroit thought Darko was that great, but rather they are just anti Carmelo, lol

This would be a great deal for Detroit because they could get rid of Rip Hamilton’s contract. This is the opposite of what Denver should be doing because they need to get more flexible and the only reason you should be paying someone that much is if they’re bringing you wins. This trade would put them a few steps back and I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Who knows what was actually asked for? I highly doubt it was Prince and Rip straight up. The article says they asked about those two, but they were probably just the starting point in any talks. Dumars  knew full well that on top of those two, the Nugs were going to ask for something like Monroe and a pick as well. He "quickly dismissed" it because he knew the price was going to be higher than what the Pistons are willing to pay for a possible one year rental player.

Probably because Detroit is scared of a lockout and doesnt want to lock up a huge 20 mill+ contract for the upcoming season. Cash Rules Everything Around Me. Eternal knowledge if there ever was some.

Dumars has done a bad job for a while he got a pass for years becaz of the team’s success.  Some of that was luck Ben Wallace and Billups became unexpected stars and the Rasheed Wallace trade was a steal.  Since than he hasn’t done much.  The team has no legit big men and now no real star either.  Signing Ben Gordon when Rip is still on the team doesn’t make sense and Charlie V wasn’t a good signing either.  He blew his cap room the year before the biggest free agency ever.

There is no reason for Detroit to say no to this trade unless Denver asked for Monroe.  Everyone else on that team can be moved.  Detroit needs to start over.

Darko would be the best big men on their roster right now if he was still there.  Greg Monro is going to be really good.  But Darko will be better this year.  They are very similar player what makes Monroe so good is his mobility, shooting, and passing ability for his size.  Well Darko does all of those things, and is actually bigger and slightly more mobile, not to mention a hands down better defender.  If Darko gets 30 minutes a game this year like he should expect him to average over 2 blocks and 1 steal to go along with 4 assists.

It has nothing to do with dumars or any deal. the team is being sold, and taking on money isn’t part of those plans. The hot rumor last season was that the pistons had a sign and trade deal to get boozer, but ownership wouldn’t cosign. It was in the Detroit News and all over the local talk radio here. Its why i have accepted the pistons sucking for the next few years. And them signing bg and charlie v was based on getting boozer and trading rip and maxiel by the way. Atleast I can say i’ve been to a championship parade in my life, don’t know if i will see another for some time

They spent too much money on Villanueva and Gordon when they had Rip and Prince duplicated what they had plus  Rip and Prince are all stars. Dumars messed up. They need bigs.
