high floorParticipantWhat a 2nd half tonight for the Pistons. They were down double digits late in the 3rd period and end up winning by 19 against a scrappy, confident young Portland team. On the road as well.
R Jax drops a career high 40pts, and Drummond goes for a ho-hum 29 and 27. Let me tell you right now, I was a huge SVG supporter when he was in Miami and Orlando and he’s proving that his system can translate to W’s with an established (or in this case emerging) Center that commands a double team. He simply gets the most out of his best players anywhere. Period.
Assuming Detroit’s 2 big guns stay healthy, this is a 45+ win team this year with potential to pile on more victories. Wait until Stanley Johnson starts contributing consistently as well. This team could be very interesting in a couple seasons with more experience and continuity.

Malik-UniversalParticipantandre shocked me with some of his moves inside… best center so far this yr without question.. friendly reminder: he just turned 22 this yr… player of the game has to be reggie jackson with 26 in the 4th… i just had a feeling we were gnna win the game the whole time but i didnt expect a 41-11 advantage in the 4th qtr… that was bizarre… didnt think we would start 5-1… still early but im pleased.. future is very bright

NBAjunkie81ParticipantJackson & Drummond look unstoppable right now – all I can say is WOW! – I’m happy for the Detroit fans…

BiggysmallsParticipantSVG is one of the best coaches in the business no question about it. His voice may be annoying and his coaching style may have a shelf life but he’s been good everywhere he’s been and he hasn’t been on teams with the quick fix mentality where they just buy their way out of holes.
Made smart trades, getting Markieff and Jackson. Drummond will be around for a long time.
Yeah the Pistons could be fun. I’m not sure I’m buying them as a playoff team less than 10 percent into the season, but I see them making a jump this year and definitely knocking on the playoff door next year.

SkalAndJamalParticipantSVG is a boss. simple. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is a baller himself, best name in the NBA too.
I would be worried about B Jennings and his ball controlling habits though.

Rip256No one criticised the Pistons more than me in the off season.
As a side note, my bookie keeps giving great odds on the Pistons and I’m on a nice roll backing them.
I’m using the winnings to reduce the debt I’ve accumulated with him over the years.

Rip256Lol I dont even need the link. Im sticking with it.
If your team needs a Chris Bosh type…then Skal isnt a bad choice.
If you want a dominant bigman…almost as if boogie cousins could play piano…then Humphries is your man. He should still be a HS Junior, but cos hes so smart hes jumped 2 classes.

Sharp ShooterParticipantAndre Drummond can only get better. Thats the scary part. His post moves are getting better. His hook shot from either shoulder seem to be his bread and butter. I doubt he continue to avg. 20 20 the before the all star break, but he should be close. Should be a starter, because I do not see any other Eastern conf. center challenging him. Reggie Jackson could make a case as well.
Detroit Defense is getting back to where it’s suppose to be. I still feel like they need another scorer from the forward spot, maybe Jeff Green type player. Taj Gibson would be nice as well.
I think the pistons are only going to get better with Jennings off the bench
Marcus Morris does bring the "attitude" that detroit needed. Along with Jennings both should help spark some fire in detroit, something Monroe did not do as the leader.
Ilysova is the smartest player of the starting 5. He does the intangibles.
KCP just needs to show his consistency. If he can be a consistent 15-17ppg detroit will be in the playoffs.

Memphis MadnessParticipantAlmost similar to the Wallace/Wallace/Billups Pistons squads.
Basically came out of nowhere, a dominating defensive rebounder inside, a 4 who could shoot, a bigger combo guard type at point, then some other hard nosed players. Well coached, too.
The Pistons could be starting their 3rd mini-dynasty in less than 30 years.

OhCanada-ParticipantMy dark horse team at the start of the year. Most underrated coach in the league. The additions of Ilyasova and Morris were downplayed especially joining Van Gundys system. They’ve done a great job drafting and adding talent and now making the pieces fit. Reggie Jackson has a lot of Westbrook’s confidence in him you can see him oozing willpower when he plays.

markfitz14ParticipantB. Jennings can evn come back and add a scoring punch off the bench. He could be a good 6th man. Has that gunner type of game. Can be a quick offensive pusher off bench.
I wonder who they puch out of playoffs?
This playoff race will be crazy between. Celtics, Pistons, Pacers, Bucks and even the Knicks might make a little noise with Ktop playing well much quicker than expected.

Chilbert arenasParticipantBefore the season started I said on this forum that Drummond needed to start realizing his potential this year. That his 12 and 12 games weren’t adequate for the amount of hype he was getting. I’m extremely happy to be putting my foot in my mouth at this point. Hope he keeps it up. Love this team and how it’s been constructed.

XYRYXParticipantvan Gundy said Drummnd Player with much more effort this year and this is also my conclusion. he was already gifted aus hell and his timing with the rebounds always good but his mindset is the difference now.
On top of that this it should he noted that he has in redibly healthy the last couple of years. Bis broken back (or what it exactly was) scared ne a lot but has he missed games at all after that?
He is a monster in the paint for sure now – wow!
