This guy has the talent, but I really thought he would be putting up better numbers this year! His assist numbers are way too low for a guy of his talent and his scoring number I figured would’ve have went up with Ben Gordon departing. With his size and speed, he should be averaging at least 8-10 assist a game!

After the performance he had in the playoffs last year, I figured this was going to be his break out year. I guess he and the Bulls really do miss Ben Gordon.

    1. Rose is very passive and loves to defer – weird as hell for someone with his talent but that’s him.

    2. John Salmons isn’t the same type of Guard as Ben Gordon. Salmons love to catch the ball and probe. As you’ve seen, Ben Gordon is in the class of Michael Redd and Ray Allen, he’s a talented scorer but more effective at spotting-up. That’s why Xavier Henry is so coveted by the Bulls fans, the kid would complement Rose very much.

    3. Loul Deng can’t create his own shot and he loves throwing up that 15 footer from the right side of the rim – you can credit Rose’s assist to Deng.

    4. Joakim Noah is the Center for the Bulls future. He’s progressed, so much that a writer(Rick Morrissey) was forced to eat his own article, literally.

for a guy with his speed, athleticism, and wingspan he should average more steals. .8 a game is pitiful for a point guard.

Lovin your take my man. As a Bulls fan, I want them to land Xavier Henry because he does have that Jimmy Jackson (with Dallas) instinct and can definitely be capable of complimenting Derrick’s play…

A lot of people are still stuck on how he started the season… What they don’t realize is that he’s clearly out of that slump. He’s back to his explosive self now and he’s also been more aggressive the last few games. His points, shooting percentages and assists are going up.

Rose’s assist numbers arent tremendously impressive because he has no one to feed assists to.

Salmons isnt a spot up shooter. He like to shoot off the dribble or dribble drive.

Deng isnt a spot up shooter either. He is almost a post-up SF.

Noah has very limited finishing ability.

I was at the Bulls-Knicks game a couple nights ago, and what I can tell you about Rose is that while he is extremely explosive and finishes great around the basket, his jumper does not command respect. He’s also only a 3rd done with his 2nd season, but he needs to develop a mid-range game for me to consider him an elite PG in the NBA. I mean he’s very good, but an elite PG needs to have the ability to shoot a mid-range jump shot that commands respect of the defender, his does not.

Exactly… Steve Nash and Chris Paul can get 10 assists a night because they have players that can shoot the ball well… Derrick Rose, no matter how many times he passes the ball, he can’t get that number of assists simply because his teammates can’t knock their shots…
