Dog_ShammdogParticipantDeonte Burton and Bonzi Colson are two of my favorite players to watch and root for in college basketball. Both are around 6’5" and play predominately at pf, Colson more so than Burton. I think Burton is the superior athlete but am not sure how they are valued compared to one another as prospects. As it stands, Colson is the better college player. I don’t think Burton ever hit his stride but I couldn’t tell you why, he seems to get along with the Cyclones staff. I really expected him to be a star by his senior year.
Idk who I think has a better chance at sticking in the NBA. I believe Colson will have more opportunity but that Deonte Burton will be the superior NBA player. I think he can play the 3, stretch 4 and even SG depending on matchups. He reminds me of a shorter Julius Randle physically and athletically but with better body control, dexterity and hand eye coordination. I may get negged like crazy for this but he’s like a very very very poor man’s Charles Barkley
I think Colson is a 4 exclusively but could be a good one. He’s a scrapper and a shot maker who seems like a great teammate and competitor. If he can keep himself from being being a defensive/rebounding liability then what he brings to the table will be in demand.
What do you guys think? Any other puzzling prospects?

mavsatxParticipantIdk why I like deonte but I do, although when I watch him he almost never ever passes the ball. Really strong player with weirdly good touch for how strong he is. Don’t think he can make it in the league, but I am a fan.

Dog_ShammdogParticipantI can’t disagree. But here’s a more fun question, what do you think it would take for him to succeed? I think he’s a great candidate to pull a Rico Gathers/Antonio gates/jimmy graham and switch to football…

TopShottaParticipantI kinda see Burton as a mini version mix of Paul Milsap and Jae Crowder. If Burton can show that he can guard and his the open jumper he will def have a chance to make a roster.
Colson should go straight overseas for a season or two if he doesnt make an nba roster really just work on his perimeter skills.

BogDon_KryptParticipantBonzi Wells was the greatest ball state player who ever played on the blazers.
