With the Nuggets heading for another top 10 pick or better in this year’s lottery and having not been in the play offs in the post George Karl era. I wondered if it might be time to really rip it up and rebuild around Mudiay, Jokic, Nurkic etc.

I know Denver’s cause hasn’t been helped by injuries to Gallinari, Chandler etc but would a fully fit roster ever really go much better than a 7th-8th seed I wonder?

Gallinari will be going into the last year of his deal and Faried is on a very reasonable contract for a solid big man, so both might have good trade value.

A lot would depend on where Denver finish in the lottery, if they luck on Simmons or Ingram then certain players will be dispensible and others will make good supporting players.

They also have 3 other current first round picks in this year’s draft so could start a major rebuild immediately.

I’m not saying they go down the Philly route fully but moving good players on for future assets could result in extra picks in 2017 and beyond and give them a chance to get a really high draft pick then or beyond. So say by 2019 they have a very good young line up, they would have cap space to take salary dumps to get more assets in the next year or two and could add a good veteran or two to give the young guys mentors.

A lot of teams will have cap space this summer too, so many teams who miss out on free agents will have cap space to trade for players like faried, gallinari, and chandler. Also they wouldn’t be like the sixers because they would have mudiay, jokic, nurkic, harris, and barton, who are NBA players. I think it makes sense, that way in a few years once the warriors, thunder, spurs, and clippers windows start closing they can take advantage. They could maybe keep one of them, but it makes sense to trade them for picks and or young players.
