Does anybody know why this guy gets no love? He is not on the 2011 mock draft. He is the kind of kid who just keeps getting better and better every year and is the leader of the Illini. He has the size at 6’3 200 and can run the point or play the 2.

His numbers this year are 15.1pts 3reb 6.1ast 1.5stl 48% from the floor 35% from three

He is a little turnover prone and his defense is shaky at times but he is also playing with a couple of freshmen. He seems to play huge down the stretch when they need him and with the Illini’s strong incoming class, coupled with DJ Richardson and Brandon Paul being a year older, I think he could have a terrific senior season and really open some eyes.

    Anyone?????

At best, he’s a Willie Green type player. A SG who can knock down open jump shots, play solid D, and occasionally drive the line

Winning brings eyes to the arena. Sad reality, but true. He was on a sub-.500 team as a freshman and had a horrible shooting season last year on a one-and-done team that lost to Western Kentucky. This year, he has been great. While he isn’t as steady as he could be, he has improved. Certainly, he is in much better shape than he was before. The game has always been there. The problem is Illinois is still a bubble team. A couple wins in the tournament or a deep run in the NIT would do a world of good in terms of building a draft stock. He’ll probably declare to check out the process this summer because he is a junior, but he’ll get more teams wanting to get a look at him if he leaves a strong impression at the end of the year.

An improved supporting cast for next would help as well. If Paul and Richardson develop, if Tisdale and Davis get bigger, if their incoming freshman play like the top two prep talents from the state of Illinois typically play, then Illinois would be a border line top ten team. If that is the case, then there is no reason to believe he couldn’t emerge as a potential 1st round pick and have an NBA career. It is just as likely, if not more so, that things don’t come together for Illinois and he ends up playing in the D-League or Spain.

He’s slow, Weber calls him lazy and he doesn’t have the height to be an ideal shooting guard or the ball-handling and court vision to be a point guard.

You said he isn’t good on D. Is it because he is slow or because he doesn’t try. Either way he would get exposed on the next level.
