valentineIs it possible that the run away winner will have stiff comp int he second half of the season like Evans did last year?..Evans was doing elite things that no rookie had done in years or maybe ever just like Blake And then curry started stepping up his game making the race for Rookie of the year closer. Could Cousins be doing the same thing?..We all know cousins is very skilled( yes he is more skilled in the post then Blake but not as athletic) and he has started to put it together more and more. If he continues with what he has done lately this race could get closer in the second half although it would still be Blake’s to lose

lalailaParticipantno matter Wall is phenomenal DMC still can show a potential in the second half that it’s not a sure thing John will end up as the best from the class…
but for R.O.Y i think no…Blake is too freakish

BKKnicksfanParticipantBlake, Wall and Cousins are top 3.

boffacheeriosParticipantcousins past 2 games against the lakers and hornets have shown stats as follows: LAL : 27 points, 10 rebounds, 3ast. NOH: 25 pts, 12 reb , 7 ast. both games leading to wins. he made the lakers and hornets bigs look like school yard kids, make no mistake, if cousins has the drive to improve, we’re looking at one of the best centers in the league for a long time to come. the scariest part about cousins is that looking at him at the beginning of the year compared to now, he’s matured almost unbelievably and he stays out of foul trouble. the consistency is starting to come and that’s translating to kings wins. Has Walll done that? no. it’s arguable that he played better at the beginning of the year. Blake griffin to me is just a ridiculously good player already so not to take anything away from him, but boogie is on the rise.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantThe only thing stopping Blake from winning ROY is an injury.

R-Dot-13ParticipantDont forget about Landry Fields..
Hes up there possibly in the top 3.
But Griffin will 100% be the ROY unless he breaks something.

I May Be WrongParticipantand DeMarcus is the key in the last two W’s against LAL and NOH. Whats even more impressive is that he’s done it in 32 and 35 mins respectively. I think he’s finally getting settled and comfortable and I expect his numbers to continue to go up barring any big injuries
With that all said, Blake is just on another level this season and its ashame for Wall and DMC cuz they are having solid rookie seasons and could have won if it wasn’t for the freakish numbers Griffin does on a nightly basis

LAKE SHOWIts possible he can get close. He would have to put up 22.6 and 12.8 reb in the second half of the season (Blake’s numbers for the first half) while getting his team win’s with Blake staying at his current level of play

You really think Cousins is gonna put up that in the second half?

WizardofOzParticipantRight now for me, it’s Blake, then Wall, then Cousins.
Right now Griffin looks like the runaway favorite, but Cousins has been playing consistent as of late and the Kings have been playing well lately. It wouldn’t surprise me if Wall & Cousins flip-flopped my list, but I still don’t see him passing Griffin.
As for Wall, he got off tho a great start, but injuries have taken their tole. He sprained his foot, and soon after that, the team doctors dianosed that he had knee tendinitis, but they misdianosed it and he actually had a bone bruise, and bone bruises take along time to heal. He still isn’t fully healthy yet, and while he has been playing solid, he hasn’t been very efficient shooting only 39.6% from the field and is averaging 3.8 turnovers per game. 15 & 9 are really good numbers for a rookie PG, but if he was still playing at the level he was playing at the beginning of the season, he might be getting more consideration for ROY right now.

LAKE SHOWNever said he would just said if he could. Just like no one expected Blake to put up the numbers he did or expected Curry to put up a second half show like he did or Eric Gordan like he did his rookie year. Nothing is absolute in basketball other than someone will win and someone will lose

Cardinal_FanParticipantTyreke wasn’t the runaway winner until Brandon Jennings sort of flamed out after all those huge scoring games.

NickWayne87Participantif you think anyone not named Blake Griffin has any shot at rookie of the year…..he could not play another game and still get it.

Cardinal_FanParticipantAgreed The Blake is definately ROY no contest. The Clippers even have a buzz surrounding them…..when is the last time that has happened lol. Cousins is going to be really good but his impact hasnt even been close to what The Blake is doing.

IndianaBasketballParticipantGriffin’s gotten better and better each month… Like literally. His stats keep going up and up.
I just don’t see anybody catching him, though Cousins is showing just how good he can be.

BigDParticipantBlake Griffin is clearly ROY. But it would be nice to see Wall and Cousins start playing great ball consistently to make it a little bit interesting.

jaysmith1987ParticipantI think this topic will be more relevant in their sophomore year in the league because right now Blake has 3years post high school basketball experience on Cousins and the light is just starting to go on for him. In a couple years Cousin will be one of the best centers in the league. Blake is already great but he was more prepared for the nba spending two years in college and his first year in the league as medical redshirt. That being said Blake is already looking like a superstar in the making barring injury so Cousins has a way to go in the consistency department but Cousins can play a huge part in revitalizing a position that has almost gone extinct in the new era of basketball.
