OhCanada-ParticipantDemar Derozan is proof that an athlete can completely change his mentality from passive to that killer instinct mentality through development. Anyone who wants to or wanted to give up on guys like J. Lamb, Mclemore, Wiggins, Drummond or any other young guy accused of not having drive needs to look at Derozans career.
Demar Derozan enters the 2014-2015 season coming off of a breakout season including an allstar selection, playoffs appearance and team USA gold tournament in a limited role. Ive always been a believer in Demar and knew eventually if he worked hard he would accomplish these things although he did something yesterday that I would have never guessed he would accomplish.
Yesterday Demar Derozan shot 4-16 and had 5 turnovers. Derozan still makes bad decisions when pressured with good on ball defence and trapped with double teams and the Nets exposed this in the playoffs by constantly pressuring and doubling Derozan and Lowry. I expect this to continue this year and for Valanciunas to feast off this and have unreal effieciency.
Thats not at all what shocked me though. What was impressed by is the fact that despite being taken out of the game offensively he found a way to exert his energy in other areas of the court by setting career highs in rebounds with 11 and steals with 6. Two years ago and even during times last year he wouldve completely checked out of the game and became passive. In his sophmore campaign if he had a game with 5 or more rebounds J would be shocked. He has completely changed his mentality and I do believe Dwayne Casey is to thank…or blame depending on who your routing for.

Lotto StudParticipantI’m glad someone within this Forum brought his name up in discussion. DeMar DeRozan was a hot topic for me yesterday.
DeRozan will never get his respect. He will never be considered a breakout player no matter what, because his numbers exceed the expectations. He was putting up 22ppg(2013-2014) and still getting overshadowed within the East. He’s very underappreciated, but what will help his cause for topics of discussion will be playoff appearances. Anything more than what he post on a nightly basis would warrant MVP talks.
All Toronto needs is solid frontcourt depth. The guard play is secure, very secure.
- PG Lowry/Vasquez/Williams
- SG Ross/DeRozan(SF)/Williams
Either way you see it, another consistent year will do it for the Raptors, in a sense for everyone to see what they are working with from a televised standpoint. Being in Toronto hurts DeRozan from a fan perspective of not being able to see him play on ESPN/TNT networks.

OhCanada-ParticipantESPN is getting on my nerves this year. In the Marc Stein power rankings on ESPN there is not one single mention of any member of the Toronto Raptors.
"Canadian basketball fans are understandably in mourning after Steve Nash’s farewell season came to a sad halt before it even started. So it’s up to the Raptors to lift the gloom, and starting out as the Atlantic Division favorite has to help. How many times have we said that in the Raps’ two-decade existence"
What in the world does Steve Nash have to do with the Raptors they are completely diverting the media attention back to the Lakers any way they possibly can. Nash was a great player and I must admit I did wear the number 13 one year in public school while playing ball (4 and 10 my birthday and month were not available) but I was never a huge Nash fan to begin with. I never even watched Nash play on the National team. Because of that Im more of a Joel Anthony fan lol.
Besides being a Canadian basketball fan and being a Raptors fan are completely different. There is not one Canadian on the Toronto Raptors. They might as well have wrote Canadian basketball fans are in mourning that Andrew Wiggins scored under 15-ppg this preseason. Such mind control BS why cant they just write facts.

AdamJCallejaParticipantGlad you brought this topic up, this is a reason why I won’t worry about Wighins too much this season. (He only shot 6 times in his first game). Although Demar is one of the few who figured it out over time. Rudy Gay still hasn’t developed into a killer.

Lotto StudParticipantThe miraculous claim should be identified as "The Vincent Lamar Carter Transition Act"
Jason Richardson was next in line under this policy plan to revive his career. Look at him now! He’s still getting checks!
Vince Carter is the Grandfather of them all.

chaParticipantAndre Drummond take notes! I don’t want to see you pouting over bad calls or letting up defensively. Get those rebounds and stay out of foul trouble. I am not waking up at 8 in the morning just to see you on the bench!

King CaluchaParticipantAm I the only one who isn’t to high on Derozan? I mean… he’s good, but there’s no way he’s all star caliber in other era…

Lotto StudParticipantEven Ricky Davis carved out a pretty decent career in the "other era" for 9 consecutive seasons.

King CaluchaParticipantI’m not saying Derozan should be out of the league lol
I’m just saying he’s getting too much hype for being decent.
