I don’t think we have really talked about this Award. I know the MVP looks like it’s between LeBron, Melo, and KD; the Most Improved looks like it’s between Crawford and JR Smith; Most Improved has a plethora of players who could be chosen, COY might be between George Karl, Mike Woodson, and Spoelstra, but who do you guys think that the Defensive Player of the Year award should go to this year?

Well first things first, the MVP is between Lebron, Lebron and Lebron. 6th man I have to say Jr Smith. Most improved is really a tough call, I like Vasquez. Coach, I think it should be Georges Karl. Defensive is also tough.. Im going with Duncan though!

I actually think LeBron deserves consideration for DPOY as well. There isn’t a more versatile defensive player in the NBA. Granted he doesn’t always bring it every play but that’s because he has to shoulder such a big load on the offensive end. But we all know that when the 4th quarter comes around LeBron locks down and is capable of shutting down anyone.

IMO the award comes down to LeBron, Larry Sanders, and Joakim Noah

same bud, i would like to see him just win it at least once so its their in his collection. So that 50 years later when he brought up in some kind of all time great argument its their as proof…that he was an elite defender. some people just dont give credit where its due until they win the actual thing. theres some tough guys out there he will have to fight off though. tyson chandler can easily win it again this year for example.

I just want Lebron to win one DPOY before he hangs em up. I feel like he’s deserved at least one in the last couple of years…

No love for Tim Duncan, he was the front-runner a month ago, and he’s been even better since. He’s my DPOY, although wouldn’t mind seeing Lebron get it, but Timmy has earned it.

I agree Tim Duncan has to get it. It’s amazing the things he’s doing at this age. Where’s the fountain of youth him and Kobe are drinking from?

To me it’s a tough call between Tim Duncan and Larry Sanders.

If the Bucks had a better record I’d say Sanders. Imo a DPOY candidate should b helping contribute wins because of his defense. My two front runners are Duncan and LeBron, but who knows.

Yeah I have seen a lot of Duncan, Noah, LeBron and Sanders, but I don’t see any love for leading shot-blocker Serge Ibaka, who was 2nd on the list last year. I think Duncan has had a phenomenal year defensively, and so I think that he has the best chance of getting it, but I think that Serge definitely has to be in the mix

I totally forgot about Duncan. Wouldn’t mid seeing him win it this year. Amazing how he’s still arguably the best big man in the game. He really anchors the Spurs defensively.

DPOY- Joakim Noah or Tim Duncan, but i think Noah will win it

    MIP- James Harden

    ROY- Damian Lillard

6th man of the year it’s a tough one you have actually 3 guys playing well that role- Jamal Crawford, Jr Smith and Jarret Jack

I just hope it goes to Lebron. No guy should be able to guard so many positions and does so without failing.

Nobody’s mentioned the other Gasol yet. He’s anchored Memphis’ top defense in the L. Why not him?

    MVP-Lebron, no Question about it..

ROY-Damon Lilliard..Future all star..Lilliard has clearly been the best rookie this year..But i think Davis will turn out to be the best player from this class…..

Coach of the Year-Sproelstra will win it……..But i wouldnt have any problems if Thibs,Karl and Hollins won it……….

Most Improved Player-Paul George will get it..But Nikola Pekovic should win it………

Defensive Player of the Year-Will go to Lebron…This year nobody has really stood out so i think they’ll reward Lebron…

6th Man of the Year will go to JR Smith…

MVP: LeBron James. The anchor of the 27 game win streak and playing at an unbelievable level. Definitely separated his play from every other player in the league this year.

DPOY: This one’s a bit difficult to predict. A lot of players deserve strong consideration for this award (LeBron, MGasol, Chandler..) but I’m going out on a limb and predicting Tim Duncan wins it. It is between him and Joakim Noah IMO.

ROY: Damian Lillard. somewhat of a no-brainer as well. Although the Trailblazers have not had a stellar season, Lillard has shown the most poise as a rookie, and at the same time the hypothetical “rookie wall” has not had as big of an impact we all thought it would, compared to other rookies who deserve consideration (Davis, Beal, Barnes)

COY: Got to give it to Erik Spoelstra. Second highest consecutive win streak in NBA history at 27, First place in the East by 10 games… Kind of hard for a team, let alone a coach accomplish this. Others who deserve consideration are: George Karl, Woodson, Thibodeau, Vogel and Pop

6TH: JR Smith/Jamal Crawford… The arguments for/against them can go either way. I’m eager to see who wins.

Executive: Masai Ujiri. Unbelievable job he has done acquiring the players that fit Karl’s system.

Personally I’d give it to Noah. His energy is contagious and his hustle and leadership on defense are admirable. Statistically he’s averaged 11.4 RPG, 2.2 BPG and 1.2 SPG on the third best defensive team in the league.

I’d probably have Lebron #2, TD #3 and Paul George #4

COY: Spolestra, but my personal choice is Popps why he can untap the best on a player potential but, Spo is going to win

and i talked about the 3 players on the 6th man of the year award but i forgot to mention one so i think Crawford wins it

The Pacers have been the best defensive team in the NBA this season.

#2 in points per game allowed and has been battling with Memphis all season for #1
    #1 in FG% and 3PT %. I mean, they’re #1 in most defensive categories.

The man in the middle is Roy Hibbert and everything starts with him.

    Double post.

But I’ll add to not see his name mentioned at least once in this thread is crazy. I even saw Paul George, who is not more important defensively to the Pacers than Hibbert.

MVP: Kevin Durant (I know that Lebron will win, but I think Durant’s season has been more impressive imo)

DPOY: Comes down to Marc Gasol and Tim Duncan, but think the Big Fundamental pulls it out

COY: Coach Karl of the Nuggets

    ROY: Damian Lillard

    6TH: Jarrett Jack

MIP: Nikola Vucevic or Paul George, but I’m going to give it to Vucevic.

^^ I think that he is referring to KD being the 2nd leading scorer while having a 50-40-90 season. That’s a very impressive statline, but LeBron has been something else this year. I just said that the MVP was going to any of those 3 (LeBron, Melo, and KD) just because they all have impressive resumes, but no doubt the MVP will go to LeBron once again
