Dear Aran,

I am writing on behalf of that one guy with a special place in all of our hearts, the infamous DNYCE.  Nearly two years ago, one (maybe all) of the mods got fed up with DNYCE’s nonsensical trade ideas and pseudo-biblical rants and blocked him.

To this day, DNYCE’s astounding, perhaps glitch-supported negative point total is still ten times higher than anyone’s.  And I think the site would be better off with him.  And here is why:

Recently, the site has been plagued by spammers and, even after basketball season has started, many of the site’s most notable posters, the ones who made the site what it is, are either less active or completely inactive.  And I know this is a basketball site (believe me, people have told me that in varying degrees of hostility for years) but their are no good threads that stray completely off topic.  These threads (John Wall Fails Drug Test, Jeremy Lin Facts, Calling Out Johnny Chill, Popcorn Story Tres) are the ones that we remember, that make the site legendary.  My point is that the site is not what it used to be.  And I feel we need a hero, a beacon of hope to rally around.  And that hero just may be DNYCE.

Crazy, am I?  Perhaps I should remind you of who exactly DNYCE was.  THis site has been home to many trolls over the years, but none were quite like DNYCE. The man was eloquent. The man was tenacious. The man talked about basketball as much as anyone.  And unlike most trolls, DNYCE truly seemed to believe everything he said, rather than being some 14-year-old idiot behind a computer screen.  He didn’t annoy us. I would be willing to say that very few of us wanted him gone.  He gave us all a good laugh and made us feel better about ourselves, though unintentionally.  The man was truly an NBADraft.net Legend, the Troll of Trolls.

Aran, and the rest of the NBADraft.net Community, I think we could all use a little more DNYCE in our lives.  Not only should we unblock him, we should send a message to his personnal e-mail and invite him back with open arms.  I know I would be at the head of the welcoming party.

DNYCE, if you’re reading this, if you’ve been hanging around the forum even after everyone abandoned you, we want you back.  We love you.

Really? Be prepared for "You May Be an Edomite Clown". DNYCE was fine, until he went all European Baller crazy sauce. That was enough to have us lose interest in his obsession with trading Andrew Bynum. Now he has probably moved on to Pau Gasol and we have lost interest. I do miss the times when the board had fewer trolls. Jacob, you have become less of one, but I have to say I do am not jumping on this bandwagon.

Also, if I were to join the name changing brigade, it would either be "I May Be Mikey V" or "Mikey V May Be Wrong", lol. Man, I was honestly thinking of "I May Be" names we could give to trolls. I think I had some gold.

I do not think I am that mean to you, though you are always really condescending to about anything I say. Guess you just do not like what I do, have always tried to be straight up with you but guess that is not appreciated. That is fine, but I think for as lighthearted as you have claimed to be, you may have a bit of an irascible temperament as well.

Guess it is all how you read what I write and not knowing me, but I am actually just sarcastic more than angry. For real though, saying that is really much more mean than anything I have written to you man, lol. Remember when you asked people to sum up posters in two words and called me "Justifiably Pompous". I think that you may not really have justification at times, will admit I don’t either. Just do not have to agree with you. If you rather I call you "Grandpa" than your name, I will abide. Dude, when I said "jumping on the bandwagon", I meant the "Bring DNYCE back" bandwagon. Nothing against you dude. Man, I thought I had squashed anything with you and I really do not mind you as a poster. Now I see why you wrote what you did and I did not in the least mean to be condescending to you. I called you your name not to be cool, but because I found it not as weird as calling a confirmed 18 year old "Grandpa".

Hope that clears some things up, but really did not mean for it to get to the point where you wrote really condescending mean $hit about me, lol. If you still feel that way, I understand, should have thought before what I wrote as to how it came across. I make mistakes. I don’t know if you watch "Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I have those moments on here sometimes. I think we can all take things the wrong way and I believe we both might have here. He used to get so upset when he would get negged, just did not understand. I ended up giving him +1’s on that one, because lets face it, that was hilarious. Also, for anyone who remembers the troll patty mills "I May Have Told Patty Mills to STFU". That one literally made me laugh until I cried. LOL, "No one tells patty mills to STFU!" Just, incredible.

Trolls are fine, the key is the dosage. If we got a DNYCE trade or European Baller rant every few weeks or months, than it would be fine. When they start getting really active, than it gets super old. That is the problem, these guys tend to have no idea when enough is enough. Plus, when it starts getting into personal insults and an "I can’t tell you, you are an idiot" mode, than it just gets to the point of being ridiculous. Just found that was DNYCE in a nut shell, especially after the Edomite Clown rant.

You take things very seriously, don’t you? And that is why I tease you like I do. Obviously, I don’t take things as seriously. And unlike you, I love off-topic threads and not having serious talks about basketball (which I HONESTLY don’t mind, except I really don’t have THAT much to add that you guys haven’t already said in most of these threads)every now and then. And yes, I realize that you were referring to the DNYCE bandwagon. Figures. And as for the whole “lowers everyones’ quality of life” thing, I was trying to think of another way to say “Debbie Downer” which you ARE. You’re like that character on Saturday Night LIve who comments on a jocular, off-topic post and then you hear the “wah-wahhhhhhh” in the background. But that’s ok. It gives you a more defined character for when I write Survivor and crap (which I am in the process of typing up Episode #3, after many long months).

That did sound kinda hostile. People tell me I sound really angry when I text, so maybe that was what just happened. But here’s the deal. You’re a smart poster. You take things seriously. It amuses me sometimes. I tease you for it. And you’re a wee bit condescending sometimes, but apparently, so am I. But since most people think I’m a dork on this site, that just surprised me, because condescending people are usually respected to an extent,as well.

The funny thing to me is "you take things seriously". Maybe some things, but I actually really don’t. Guess I do go kind of agro in wanting to make this site awesome and full of basketball content. Believe me, I loved and I felt was a big contributor to the "Off-Topic" forum when it wasn’t in the SPAM intercourse phase. 

What I tend to do is maybe get on posters who I feel could be better. That was not the case here, was just stating my opinion and in the process I believe I said something stupid about you that came off as personal, which was not my intention as I later explained. Believe me, take myself a lot less seriously than you think.

So, in the end, Kenjon Barner is the real winner. Of the Heisman Trophy. And the National Championship. I hope. A lot. Though I will believe it when I see it.

Dude, I was not taking this that seriously, I just disagreed with this stance. I did not found what you wrote about me lighthearted or funny, you may have. Completely aware of who "Debbie Downer" is, was actually fairly active on the "Off-Topic" board when it didn’t suck. If you read what I wrote, I do not know why you felt a need to write what you have. If you feel you are being funny or lighthearted writing those things, that is you, just do not really see much humor in what was written.
