For any team that really wants a James Harden or Vinny "The Microwave" Johnson type of player, and don’t have a chance to get Marcus Smart in the first round, they should seriously consider Deandre Kane in the second round.  If he’s still there, he would be an absolute steal.  Does anyone else agree with this ?

Contenders have to love seniors who are ready to step onto the court and contribute. Similar to what guys like Plumlee does for BKN this year, Draymond Green did for GSW last year and Lavoy Allen the year before for PHI.

Deandre Kane has been getting a lot of love on this site lately, and for good reason.  Honestly, it is a bummer that potential far outweighs experience and current talent when it comes to the NBA Draft and player evaluation.  It makes sense from a business and future success stand point, but it is defintely annoying watching players that are so much more talented than another player being taken in a completely different round.  San Antonio is where he is currently projected and I think would be a great fit immediately, but also places like Clippers or Chicago would be very good as well I believe.  Both contenders, with room to work in a player that can contribute.  I think the Clippers could be awesome, b/c A. they lost Bledsoe, which obviously hasn’t devastated their team, but talent lost is talent lost.  B. Although he has "prototypical size" Reggie Bullock has been a huge dissapointment, which has rathe surprised me.  It is way to early to give up on a player like Bullock, but he was defintely drafted to be able to contribute more than 3ppg, and a weak 8-9 minutes.  Kane falls into the typical undersized SG, not enough of a PG trap….and then add he will be 25 during the draft and he has all sorts of things outside of his talent working against him.  It is why I believe a player like Nick Johnson will be drafted ahead of Kane, while they are pretty much in the exact same boat postion wise, just Kane has 3 years on Nick Johnson.

Someone had a good comparison yesterday.  Zach Lavine is a lottery pick (will probably stay), and Xavier Thames (GO COUGS) would be lucky to get drafted in the 2nd round.  Yet if these players were to play 1-on-1 right now and watching each respective teams play Xavier Thames is so far and away the superioir talent, but obviously his "cieling" doesn’t seem to be as high.

It was really annoying when we had the Sonics, there was a point of 3 years were we insisted on drafting all these big men and potential.  The Sonics drafted Robert Swift over Jameer Nelson and our point guard was Luke Ridnour…smfh.  WE DRAFTED FREAKING JOHAN PETRO!!! Johan Petro over David Lee a senior from Florida…I mean are you kidding me??  The very next year we drafted an even more obscure 7 footer named Sene over proven talents such as JJ Reddick and Jordan Farmar.   But I digress, Deandre Kane I think will definitely be able to help a team, with his maturity and talent it is just a matter of being given an opportunity.

james harden?  kane is nowhere near james harden comparisons.  the biggest problem with kane is he is older than harden.  that’s gotta help playing against guys 2-6 years younger.

I agree i dont see the James Harden compasion either, but hell i aint high on James Harden anyway.  KANE is a winner dont care how old he is. The only down fall is he wont have a long nba career becuase of his age. But a vet team needing a guard who wont make mistakes and play tough D. KANE is the man.  Imagine Kane coming off the bench behind Chalmers or instead of D fisher in OKC.. No drop off .  BIG FAN of KANE here.. Im sure they got a Jersey ready for him in South Beach!

I like Kane’s game a lot… I think he’s a combo guard that can have a nice career in the NBA. At 6’4 with a nice build, he can definitely play a Lance Stephenson type of role. His handles are good enough. He has good vision and is a good rebounder. He dominates defenders with his physicality and finishes well at the rim. Just like Lance, he’ll have to improve his jump shot, but that’s not a big issue. I see late first round to early second round.
