David Lee is averaging 20.1 ppg 11.2 ppg 3.6 apg on 53% shooting for an up and coming Warriors team that would be the 5 seed if the season ended today. I really do think he's a top 5 power forward in the game, yet a guy who never gets mentioned. He's always been dismissed as a guy who produced for bad teams, but he's still playing very productively for a good team for the first time in his career. I think it's time to acknowledge him as one of the best PF's in the game.
I would seriously rank him ahead of LaMarcus Aldridge, Amare and Chris Bosh. Kevin Love and Z-Bo, in my opinion, the only guys I would rank ahead of him this season. ( I still consider Lebron and Melo SF's)
I'll be willing to put him ahead of Kevin Love...for now. And a healthy Andrew Bogut (who would erase Lee's defensive shortcomings) next to him in the frontcourt would put him in the top 3 discussion in my opinion.
I forgot Tim Duncan has been playing at C the past couple years, I was about to ask where he was. Yeah I agree, David Lee is so underrated. It's a crime he won't be in the All-Star game
He's the type of guy the coaches will vote in. He made the team in 2010 with NY, I think he'll be able to find a way on the squad playing for a winning team.
Kevin Love has been awful this season. If you're just going off of this year then there is no reason for Lee to behind him as of right now.
K. Love is averaging 14 rebounds per game. Playing "awful" is a really strong word to describe a PF doing that. Of course he is shooting pretty badly. His TS% is 46% which is pretty darn bad. But the rebounding balances that out. So you can't really say he is playing bad. He is just playing bad for him.
I couldn't agree more and I was tempted to make a post after he single handedly dismantled my Sixers team down the stretch last night. And he did it against 3 different but very good post defenders in Thad Young, Lavoy Allen and Kwame Brown. The guy was a force and made every big bucket down the stretch for Golden State.
I've been a big Lee fan since he was in the Dunk Contest in High School and thought he was always undervalued. Coming out of Florida he was deemed undersized and unathletic. I dunno how he got the unathletic label but he was one of the first big men to really make a statement that 6'9' is for from undersized when he averaged 20 and 10 as a Center for New York. He also put up great combine numbers.
Right now David Lee may be playing better then any PF in the game right now. I still think Love, Blake, and Z-Bo are the best PF's in the game but none of them are playing at the level that Lee is right now and it's time he started getting his due.
And another thing is do you guys agree that Kyrie and Steph Curry's game are very similar like how Rose and Westbrook are?
Kyrie and Stephen's NUMBERS are similar to Rose and Westbrook, respectively.
No kidding, the unathletic thing baffled me too. I know he's bulked up since then but didn't the guy beat James White in a dunk contest? ( I seriously don't remember, just that they were in the final together)
Yes he did win that Dunk Contest over James Flight White and Jawad Williams although honestly I think James White clearly had the better dunks. David Lee had a dunk where with his back to the rim standing on the foul line he through it between his legs off the backboard grab it and dunked it backwards, And one where he ooped himself and took his shirt off before grabbing the ball and dunking it. But James White did like a double clutch 2 handed dunk from the foul line.
And @Sharpe I was more talking about their playing styles then their numbers although their numbers are very similar also.
Chandler Parsons has played better then alot of people expected.....Lee & Parsons success might help Eric Murphy get some serious looks in the 2nd round.....
