According to ESPN Houston has decided to offer the magic Chandler Parsons, patrick Patterson, Kevin Martin, Toronto’s first round pick along with future first rounders, plus the draft rights to white, lamb, and Jones for Dwight,Duhon, Glen davis, Jason richardson and/or hedo turkoglu. This is utterly a stupid offer from Houston, they trade away all of their young talent and future for Howard and a bunch of BAD contracts. The magic were nothing but a first round exit in the eastern conference with their current team and now Houston is taking that same team to the Western conference(yikes). Remember Houston has given omer asik and Jeremy lin absurd offer sheets which will financially cripple their franchise and cause them to release a lot of their non guaranteed players. Houston quickly turns from a good young team with depth and future picks to build on, to a stick in the mud 8th seed playoff team, I think its time to fire Daryl morey as he is going to kill Houston’s future

They would basically be swaping rosters with Orlando witch isn’t a good idea at all, and their is no dout that Howard would walk at the end of the season.

I agree 100% Daryl morey is gutting this team he is killing their chemistry, Kevin Martin has become disgusted with Houston and doesn’t want to resign and their going to amnesty scola without gauging his value on the trade block, he needs to stop trying to become the next Miami heat, or LA Lakers with all these superstars, he should try to be like Denver and just stockpile young players and build up their depth instead of trying to become an instant title contender. Rome wasn’t built in a day

puts Denver to shame and I was impressed with what Denver got for Melo. Who knew one player could get you a whole new team on the trading block!

Hell if he wants a center that bad why doesn’t he play out the season with their current team, let Martin walk and used their picks and the raptors on more young talent, and then sign Andrew Bynum who publicly said he has a lot of interest in Houston, if they can’t wait then why not trade for pau gasol who’s pricetag is not that high?

… They have like 6 young PF’s and no center… they have to make a trade. I dont have the means to analyze what the monetary benefit of having Dwight for one year would be, but it has to be considerable and worth it. I dunno if houston has a BOD or just one owner, but Morey has to be facing some heat to get a deal done. Strange that Orlando is obviouslly a seller and Houston is obviously a buyer, but Houston has no leverage in this deal… You would think that Orlando has no one to trade with at this point, except maybe Atlanta, Yet houston can trade with whomever wants to deal…Doesn’t make sense that they would give everything away for nothing…sounds more like a list of demands from someone in Orlando’s camp…They are basically asking for every decent player on the rockets plus 5 first rounders for one year of dwight…

They can easily trade one or two of them for a center and they signed omer asik to a 4yr/25 mil deal, sources all around the league are saying that It’s Houston that is pushing for Dwight and it looks like they threw all their chips in for a one year rental. It makes no sense its like Sam Presti calling Dan Gilbert in 2010 offering harden,Jeff green, and ibaka for a one year rental of LeBron, I understand Houston is a big market but after Dwight leaves and their stuck with a bunch of bad contracts the fans will not support them anymore

I feel sorry for all NBA fans, I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that’s tired of hearing about Dwight Howard. He screwed himself Orlando was ready to trade him to New Jersey at the deadline but he wants to opt in his dear for next year. Dwight has been nothing but disrespectful to rod henigan if I’m rod I trade his ass to Houston and not to LA or Brooklyn

Do you think that this is going to have an adverse effect on Dan Fegan’s career as an agent? I dunno if I spelled his name right, but I saw rumors that Orlando is fed up with dealing with him and I have to assume that other teams are just not willing to participate in this deal because it will send a bad message to their superstars…. Its a serious dilema for him if the deal falls through and dwight plays in orlando, he looks like he failed his client, but if it goes through he will be vilified amongst the owners and might lose out of future clients (if orlando has a pick and you are in their range there is no way that you sign w/ Fegan if you want them draft you). Granted whatever percentagehis agency gets of Dwights next 100m contract will be a great golden parachute if he really gets blackballed, but watch dwight get fed up and fire him soon.

AI I have no idea maybe they want half of Houston and Daryl morey’s firstborn to be thrown in the deal, truett Dwight failed himself not his agent, at the trade deadline Dwight said he had a ”change of heart” and decided to opt in but months later he claims he was bullied into opting in, Otis Smith gave you what you want and that’s a trade to New Jersey but you got cold feet and decided to stay Wtf? I think Dwight is the new villian of the NBA not LeBron, at least LeBron played out his contract which is what a player is supposed to do and he didn’t cause bad publicity on himself or the organization

I think you guys are kind of over analysing this. It doesn’t matter what you give up to get a star player, it’s getting the star player that matters. The Knicks gave up everything for Melo, but just having Melo in town allowed them to get guys like Chandler, Kidd, Smith and so on. This is the era of the super team, and to become a super team you need super stars. Getting Dwight would just be the first step in this direction, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw another star player next year try to force their way to Houston (Josh Smith?).

Next years free agency is even more stacked then this one, and if you can sign one of those players then maybe Dwight stays because right now it’s not looking to promising for him elsewhere.

It would make sense, if Dwight said for sure he would resign. But he’s proven already that he’s extremely uncertain about things, and has publicly said he would only resign with Nets. However, he might like Houston and end up resigning, but not many people in Houston have been too happy there. So basically, if they do this trade and Dwight walks at the end of the year, they’re the Houston Bobcats. All they’ll be left with is overpaid Lin and Asik, Richardson, Davis, Duhon, and whoever was left from the Dwight trade. HUGE risk by the Rockets proposing this

I don’t think Morey would need to give up that much just to get Dwight Howard.

Given that D12 already mentioned he won’t extend with any team except for one (Nets?), the Magic really has not much bargaining power.  Morey has always been known to do rip off deal, so I doubt he would have to give up that much to secure Dwight Howard for only 1 year.

Given the Rockets owner doesn’t care about reckless spending, Morey may just took on some terrible contracts while unlikely to give up too much in terms of young players/picks.

At the end of the day, if Magic managed to get rid of all the terrible contracts while adding a potential good young players or two, they are already in a good situation for a rebuild.

And Dwight will just walk… So in conclusion they are left with scrubs on crap contracts, no draft picks for the next few years, no good player, no cap space, no Dwight… Morey has gotten DESPERATE. He’s thirstier than a ugly girl in a club

but at this point I think the market is such that it might be better for the magic to start the season with dwight. OBV that is not a good business decision or good for the organization, but bear with me. 1) there is only one team bidding for dwights services because lopez cant be traded until Dec. 2) a lot of the talent available is unproven at this point so its hard to pull the trigger on what could be a bunch of scrubs. 3) there are a lot of teams that could be potential buyers who think their teams are well off right now(but are wrong) 4) they need to put butts in  seats and make that $$$ 5) Dwight has shown himself to be capable of being influenced by outside forces, he could change his position on only resigning with the Nets once he finds out how only teams either want him or his own team hates him.

All this for ONE dude??? I don’t get it lol ONE player can’t win a title on his own and you certainly don’t flush away your future for a " Cry Baby " who doesn’t even know what he wants for his damn self. He could’ve been in BKN by now if he wouldn’t have signed the opt in clause but he was too " Vagina " to make a " Man Decision " and live with that decision. He wants his cake with candles even though birthdays only come once a year. Life doesn’t work that way big boy… Hell I wish ORL would ship his ass to WAS, CHA, UTA or CLE just to be spiteful like he’s been doing to them ever since this soap opera began. Just get what you can get Hennigan but get this diva outta there ASAP before you ultimately end up with egg on the face of your organization again.

Morey does seem a bit desperate for a superstar.

But I actually like this. Having a bunch of stars and excellent role players hasn’t worked for Houston, so they’re radically changing their strategy.

Lets say things don’t work out with Dwight Howard? (either no trade, or he leaves)

They become a terrible team for a couple years and rebuild at the top of the lottery…

why not give yourself a good chance at the superstars from the next 2 draft classes?

They’ll also have tons of cap space with which to sign free agents.

Orlando will be stacked for years to come if this happens not to mention they will soon have their own lottery picks soon as howards leaves. Also they will  get a trading chip in kevin to bring in more young talent.

This might go down in the  top 5 worst trades ever the rockets are giving away their future what are the magic waiting for…..HOLD UP WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE MAGIC *in my Stephen A Smith voice…

They couldn’t get a deal done in a year. This lead to a good gm in otis smith ( imo who was working with what he had to his best ability )getting fired. They wont pull a trigger on any deal.If these reports are true its ashame we shouldnt be getting a report about the package we should be getting a report about the deal getting done whats the hold up.

I had always said Orlando should have been talking to Houston the whole time about trading Dwight. They are clearly desperate to get him and will give them a much better package of players and picks. Who cares if he doesn’t want to sign there long term…let them deal with that headache. It seems like they don’t mind and will give up their entire roster for Dwight and a bunch of bad contracts. This makes very little sense to me but if I am Orlando I have already done this deal.

What?! You’re trading EVERY single one of your valuable assets? I could understadn it if you were keeping Lowry, Martin, and one or two of those young guys, but they traded Budinger for the pick you used on Terrence Jones, they’re including Lamb and White in the deal, and their 2nd round prize from last year who surprised in Chandler Parsons, you traded Lowry for a potentially high pick that you’re using in this deal, you’re trading Mrtin in this deal, another Lotto pick in Patrick Patterson who has proved that he can play in this league, and you amnestied a really solid starter in Scola, they basically traded their whole damn roster for Dwight and two contract albatrosses? I don’t know about this, unless Kevin McHale was confident that he could get this team performing at a high level, but Turkoglu if they get him is washed up. No disrespect, but he isn’t the player he was 3 years ago. If they get J-Rich that might be pretty nice for the Rockets, but he has a hefty contract, Big Baby would be a nice piece, and Duhon is a scrub.

Honestly what Morey is trying to do is he’s trying to get out of No Man’s Land, and try to get a Star and be a top 3 or 4 team, but if you lose him, it finally gives you a chance to actually rebuild. I am a huge fan of Daryl Morey, I have faith in what he’s doing, this looks really weird, but I’m still gonna believe in him, but it does seem fishy.

As for the Magic, TAKE THIS DEAL! You’re getting 5 young prospects who could all turn into starters, two of which have already averaged 8 and 9 ppg last season(Parsons and Patterson). You get Martin who was disgruntled last season, but he can still averaged 20+ ppg, and they offer you all THREE of their top 20 picks, they all have great potential, and now they’re offering you three first round picks, one of which has legit potential to be in the lott(top three protected that is) Take this deal Rob Hennigan!

Just having Howard doesn’t make you a top 3 or 4 team. They need other players around him. He clearly doesn’t want to be stuck on a rebuilding team during his prime. Nothing about this deal would make sense for Houston. If they want to rebuild why not start with the three top 20 players you just drafted in a very deep draft. They obviously need to make some sort of trade since they have no balance on their roster but this is not the one to make.

^The Magic were the 3rd seed untill Dwight started sucking because his back started bothering him. And this is with Richardson, Nelson, Reddick, Big Baby, Turk, and Ryan Anderson. Now not saying Houston will have a Ryan Anderson guy, but I definalty think that they will be around a 6th seed.

I get why a lot of you guys are saying he would opt out at the end of the year, but where exactly is he going to go? He can’t go to the Knicks, Nets, probably not the Lakers, Dallas maybe but not after the offseason they just had, and maybe Atlanta has a punchers chance because it’s his hometown. If he opts out he’s going to have to understand that he isn’t going to be playing for a big market like he forsaw. Houston’s probably as good as it gets right now unless he wants to wait and sign with an up and coming team like the Cavs. Dwight put himself in this terrible situation

If that deal goes down, it’s basically each team switching spots. The Rockets would become the "Magic" and the Magic would become the "Rockets". Why would Dwight want to play w/ the same mediocre team he played w/ in ORL? Basically the only difference would be location.
