JNixonParticipantNo way to explain that as logical lol. Chad Ford is not smart to me anyway. Orton isn’t going to be a good player in the NBA. He’s like Kwame Brown 2.0.

bullsfan121212the kids nineteen. he’s a young yun . He def needs experience and he would get a lot more in college. but give him three years in the nba and see what he does. He’s a project player and any team who drafts him needs to wait. just look at j j hickson. he produced more in college yes but took awhile to adjust in the nba. when hickson got drafted i was like nice player in the future but i was suprised they didnt go for somebody more ready for lebron to win early so they could keep him

sheltwon3ParticipantWhiteside should go before him but he looks like he can be a solid big man in a few years. With all these deep drafts and only a few guys ready from the jump, taking a potential guy that is a big is not really a bad move. Size is something that is much need in the NBA and Orton is said to be athletic and can defend and he has legit NBA size. You can play a guy with those specs because if your big can run jump dunk and play D, he should be able to get playing time until his offense comes around.

doubledribblerParticipantI’m not an Orton fan, but more power to him. In my opinion, if he gets drafted in the first round he made a great decision and if he is a lottery pick even better. Get paid for 4 years and hopefully get good enough or show enough glimpses to collect another paycheck. Worse case scenario you might have to go to another country and collect a few more paychecks. It’s not my idea of how basketball should be, but there are a lot of guys that are content with it.
The funny thing is that everyone talks about Cousins being the hot head, but I have seen just as many hot headed moments from Orton if not more, including a few times where Cousins was calming Orton down.

Rock_Cat78ParticipantSome of you guys obviously think GM’s and scouts only watch games and never attend college practices. UK practices is where some of those execs really started to take notice of Orton. He was battling the best big guy in the country every day in practice. I still think you need to show more in games before you are truly ready to make this jump, but obviously there have been a lot of NBA personnel that are impressed with Daniel’s potential.

OhCanada-ParticipantAll of this will be irrelevent come Team Workouts and Draft Combine in June.Orton will either prove hes a lottery pick or drop down to the late 1st Round.Once again practicing with Cousins, showing he can be an effective role player, being 19 with an NBA body all improve his stock.
Hes also athletic and strong watch as he runs down the floor with agillity and well…watch

WildDudeParticipantThink about it… If Orton was playing for Gillespe he would have made him the featured player, while Calpari had the team rally around Wall and Cousins, had Orton decided to go to Oklahoma or another program he might have easily put up better numbers. I like this kid’s potential, from his high school highlights, I definitely see Orton spending some time in the NBDL but I question why BJ Mullens dropped to 24th based on his High School potential, as much as scouts ooze about Orton’s potential I don’t see him going higher than BJ Mullens did because Orton wasn’t near the High School recruit BJ was.

Rock_Cat78Participant^ But at the same time, Mullens isn’t the athlete or defensive presence that Orton is either. Fair or not, Mullens falls into that big, white stiff category and that hurts his future ceiling as a prospect. Not the case with Orton.

JNixonParticipantBJ Mullens and Daniel Orton are about the same level athlete. Actually, they’re about the same types of players. The only real difference is Mullens is about 2 inches taller.
