Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantI was just wondering why Dakari Johnson is not included in any of the mock drafts? I mean he has the size and skills to play in the league someday and i believe as long as he keeps working on his body that he could one day be an lotto pick. Repots out of lexington is that he has cut his body fat and Calpari is saying that he is not dunking everything. Anyone else thinks that he should be included in one of the mock drafts?

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI believe everyone assumes that he is coming off the bench and returning to Kentucky to star as a sophomore. There simply isn’t enough pt for him to showcase his skill, which im not sold on yet, with WCS and and Randle there.

SiggyParticipantI’ll agree with this. WCS might have more upside but Dakari’s a better player currently. WCS could learn a little from Dakari as far as how to play, not sure Dakari could learn anything from WCS’s game.

thatdude44ParticipantIt’s clear he’ll be in the NBA one day but as a Kentucky fan, I would like to see him get into better shape! His skills are there but as of right now I don’t think he has the lift he needs to be a lottery pick maybe in 2 or 3 years but I think he should learn as much as he can to get himself ready…

terrancebowerParticipantYou’re definitely right, he should be mentioned on this site a bit more but because of the reasons stated above, primarily his body which needs a little bit of work (We’re not talking Dajuan Coleman here) and his playing time situation, who knows if he’s gonna get to showcase his talent this year.
But, I read a Coach Cal interview where he says he’s very impressed with his skill set and that his body has improved quite a bit already. Don’t be surprised is WCS still isn’t ready for full time minutes this year either, so Dakari could be playing more than we think.
Plus, we’re seen some players go from College 6th man to NBA starter so as long as he produces in his limited minutes he’s gonna have a chance (however small) to be one and done. He might back up PF and C so he still might be able to carve out a nice role too.
He should be on the 2015 mock at least, especially considering Karl Towns is on there. If we’re going be seniority Towns should have to wait his turn behind Johnson, since Johnson will have to do the same behind WCS.

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantTerrance I agree with you 100% coach cal has stated that he has dropped a lot of body fat and is now dunking everything and with his strong work ethic I believe that he will continue to better his body. I believe that he will get about 12-15 mpg which would be ideal early on but I do see him getting more time as the season goes on. This kind of reminds me of the Daniel Orton situation which he was stuck behind Cousins and Patterson. Only here’s the thing Dakari is better than Orton was heading into freshman season at KY and cousins I was miles ahead of WCS. I think coach Cal might think he is gone after one year too being that he comes from an poor family and wanting to help out his mom. I believe this is why he is pushing so hard for top 10 recruit Trey Lyles. I also think that if KY lands Lyles to go with Towns than how is Marcus Lee going to go top 10 in 2015?
