Quick congratulations to D-Wade on reaching 20,000 career points. He is only the 41st guy to reach this landmark and is the latest achievement in a stellar career including 3 NBA titles.

What a way to reach 20,000 with style… doing so while busting Cleveland and Lebron’s butt in a 25 point blow out.

Congrats, to the third best SG of all times

I can’t believe he is still playing this well. He still doesn’t have that good of a jump shot and he used to rely so heavily on his athleticism.

     Thanks for the feedback guys.

Interesting point by Phila above, for such a prolific scoring SG, D-Wade has only ever scored 386 three-pointers which is a surprisingly low number. So if he doesn’t have a great 3 point range and his jump shot isn’t that exceptional to still score so solidly and be prolific over 13 NBA seasons is a great achievement.

It will be interesting to see what D-Wade does contract wise this summer as his last two Miami deals have only been 2 year and 1 year deals respectively. Ironically he could have opted into the final two years of his 2010 6 year deal and made more money. I think he honestly thought LBJ would remain in Miami and so took a deal in the best interests of the team.

D-Wade has 3 titles and isn’t chasing any real personal milestones now, so is he just content to take things season by season I wonder and have one year deals going forward. It almost seemed disrespectful of  Miami to offer him such short term deals. I can fully understand not offering him 4 year or more deals especially if he didn’t want team options in there and wanted a no-trade clause given his age and some injury issues. I would be surprised if D-Wade ever played for another NBA team and wonder if he might just consider retiring this summer if he felt Miami will not be legit contenders again in the next year or two. D-Wade must be a very rich man, have a lot of outside interests, could have a media career, post playing job with the Heat etc if he wanted.

Personally I think and hope he’d play at least another year to take him to 35 and if he is going to do it year by year then he can reassess each summer, discuss with Pat Riley and make a mutual decision then.

Congrats to D-Wade. Marvelous career. Still a ways to go before he retires but hope he’s one that stays with the same team the whole way through.

There are still a fair lot of players who have been one team players and will likely retire with that team – Kobe, Dirk, Tim Duncan, Manu spring to mind immediately. A little younger than that you have D-Wade, his team mate Udonis Haslem, Nick Collinson, Tony Parker etc.
