ChrispyParticipantAlright gentleman (and ladies-apologies, Cynthia)! Tonight at 7 EST #1 Syracuse goes to Cameron to face the Dukies. Who you guys have and why? What are you looking to see out of certain players?
Personally, I’m curious to see if both teams can rebound from suprising loses. I think that ‘Cuse was looking ahead of the BC game and caught with a punch they didn’t see coming. I look for Ennis to dominate Cook. Thoughts?

cuseflynn10ParticipantIt’ll definitely be interesting to see how this game plays out. Syracuse got Duke into foul trouble early and had them beat until Sulaimon hit that clutch three. Who knows what would have happened had Duke not been in foul trouble. That will be an intereting aspect of the game to watch.
Another key to the game is Duke’s outside shooting vs. Syracuse’s inside play. Syracuse gave up 11-22 threes to BC and Duke does have some good shooters of their own. Syracuse will need to stop dribble pentration that lead to kick outs for threes. That is ultimately did them in against BC. As for Duke, they will need to have a tough interior defense and stay out of foul trouble. As a Syracuse fan, I’m looking for Syracuse to attack early and often, whether that be Ennis or Fair driving, or getting the ball to Grant or Christmas in the post. Getting Cooney going will also be important to help spread the floor, but the primary emphasis will need to be on attacking Duke’s bigs.
If Syracuse can improve on their 30% FG percentage from last game and not give the other team 11 three pointers, they have what it takes to beat any team in the country. If Duke can stay out of foul trouble and knock down their perimeter shots, they could very well take this one with the home crowd on their side. Even if this game is just a fraction as exciting as the earlier matchup, we should be in for a treat tonight.

ChrispyParticipantinterested to see Hood against the zone. He is shooting almost 50% from 3, so it will be interesting to see how Duke tries to free him up on the wings. I also think that with the way Parker has struggled with his jumper recently that he will have to show that he make a 17 footer against length. I like the Cooney-Sulaimon matchup as well. Good combo of scoring/shooting against defense/slashing. Should be fun, though. No doubt.

llperezshould be fun, I loved the last game, was texting my friends about it while it was going on.
Of course some of the luster is lost with both coming off losses to unranked teams. BUt still should be an evenly matched team. I want to see what the nba prospects look like. Is fair gonna bounce back. IS ellis gonna step up because I thought he really struggled in the loss to BC. Can Parker play some defense.
If I have to pick a team, ill go with duke.

mikeyvthedonParticipantAs much as Syracuse is struggling offensively and while the game is at Cameron, am going to go with Cuse. Just have a feeling Boeheim’s group is ticked off after that L to Boston College and will be psyched to play the Blue Devils. They are coming off the loss to NC on the road, just have not really loved Duke’s overall execution and think that Cuse tries to attack them inside. Could go either way, going to make Syracuse my prediction.

machu46ParticipantCan people chill on the "Refs handed the first game to Cuse" rhetoric after tonight? Both games were officiated pretty poorly. Refs just missed a huge foul on Christmas when he could have tied it up on that dunk.

mikeyvthedonParticipantMan, I felt that Parker and-1 was more of a charge than the offensive foul they called on CJ Fair. 60-58, Fair makes that and goes to the line, different game. He gets called for a charge, Cuse is pretty screwed. I agree that had Boeheim not freaked out, Cuse would have had a CHANCE, though I was yelling the same thing he was yelling while only watching it on TV. Well, hopefully we will see a more neutrally reffed game on both ends in the ACC Tournament, if they meet again.
BTW, that put-back dunk by Parker was grown man stuff. He really came to play in this one. Impressive game in a really huge match-up.

machu46ParticipantThat’s because Parker’s WAS a charge and the one CJ got called for wasn’t lol. It really isn’t even close. And Christmas got fouled on the dunk that could have tied the game too.

Ghost01ParticipantBottom line is this:
College officiating is bad, and they miss calls.
The big charge call at the end was a 50/50 one that probably was closer to a block than a charge. It doesn’t mean you should act like an a** and screw your team, especially when you’ve won the 2nd most games in college history and are a "legend".
Duke outplayed Cuse for most of that game. The officiating was bad again, like it was bad the first time.
I think its tough for Cuse that their two best players are wing players who can’t shoot. Both talented players, but that kills spacing and smart teams are going to force them to take outside shots.
And not to overreact, but can we please end this "Ennis could go ahead of Smart in the draft" bs? Ennis has been a super clutch player this year, and is calm and controlled under pressure. But in today’s NBA, he isn’t anything more than a mediocre PG. There isn’t one skill he possesses that is elite by NBA standards.
