220ParticipantI wonder how many people on here remember Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars. I was really young when they won their back to back championships and I really don’t recall much of them in their prime short of in clips highlighting the Bad Boys. I imagine most of the people on here know about the same or perhaps less. That being said I can’t truly compare them because I really only know of Thomas and Dumars prime by reputation.

BeastMode716ParticipantThat’s actually a Great comparison b/c Detroit was Truly a guard heavy, jump shooting team……. Isaiah Thomas was hands down one of the Best players who Ever lived……. & Dumars was a defensive Wizard / scoring machine……
Both were Lock Hall of Famers……. Splash Bro’s are really like a Bigger version of Isaiah / Dumars w/ 3 point range…….
But it’s really a Perfect comparison in many ways……. B/c the Bad Boys were a team that was Completely dependent on Guard scoring……

GronounoursParticipantIt’s amusing how the type of threads about the GSW changes according to the result of the previous night’s game.
When GS were down 3-1, people felt the urge to explain that those 73 wins didn’t means much, that Curry is ‘just a shooter’, etc. Now that they are back in the series, the lofty comparisons are back in the forum.
Maybe GS will win game 7 by 1 point, then beat the Cavaliers; everyone will sing their praises – what an epic team! Maybe they will lose by 1, and people will shake their heads in disappointment: they weren’t that great after all.

celticsthugNo what’s amusing is when chumps like you act like you know what everybody else was thinking or saying. I never downed curry at any point. If you can’t answer the question cause your a young punk who never seen the pistons then shut up and let us have our thread

dazeoneParticipantIsaiah Thomas was Allen Iverson before Allen Iverson and he was a better shooter. Joe Dumas was a 20 points and D 2 way player. The Splash brothers are both better shooters and the better defensive player of the 2 is Klay Thompson. I’d personally take Isaiah and Joe Dumars because all 4 will give u what u need to win but Dumars was the better defensive player of the 4 and guess who had Jordan..close plus different eras with the hand checking …good debate though

CU.LIONSParticipantI have seen both pairs, but would rather wait till the finals end. Isiah and Dumars did win 2 titles and Isiah was extremely clutch in many games. GS is still one title behind.

DolanCareParticipantBoth duos are representative of their eras. Thomas and Dumars were a tough, strong grind it out pair. Curry and Thompson are long, quick and rangy players. All four guys could play in any decade but thrived in their own. Curry would have a tough time being an MVP player in the years when Dennis Johnson could get away with bear hugging his defensive assignment.

kobyzParticipantThey lost in an heartbreaking way in 88, one shot away from a title, could have been a 3peat… Dumars along with Draymond are in my all time starting five of players who brought out the most out of their talent thanks to thoughness and intangibles – Fisher/Dumars/Pierce/Draymond/Mark Gasol

ExumInfernoParticipantMaybe Warriors, but Thomas would do nasty things to get a win. Dumars can defend, but Klay has that extra size. Curry is a better shooter.
Detroit did have The Microwave though, so when three guards are looked at they win.

nath09ParticipantOn top of the guard comparison you also have the physical bigmen in the middle who love it rough (Bogut/Laimbeer) and the two power forwards who love to kick (Green/Rodman).

shug94ParticipantI am going with a 3 guard rotation of Jalen Rose, Reggie Miller and Mark Jackson

Ahkasi ClayParticipantI will take Curry/Thompson
I loved Dumas. But I personally think Zeke is overrated.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantExplain to me exactly how Isiah Thomas is overrated. If anything I thought he was kind of underrated in his time. He kind of got overshadowed and wasn’t really viewed as a true superstar in his prime, but outside of bird, magic and jordan there probably wasn’t another player during his era that accomplished more.
