I figure the member of their writing staff who does the rookie rankings has a couple more weeks to kill before his annual holiday leave kicks in.

His Editor must already have gone on break, otherwise I doubt this garbage ever gets published.

Why’s it garbage? He’s not saying ‘these are the best rookies in the NBA and will all be all-stars’, he’s saying ‘these are the guys that have performed best in Summer league’. And its pretty useful for people that don’t watch a lot of summer league to get some snappy content about how they’re doing.

Norm Powell starred in Summer league last year, and this underlined his sleeper status after getting drafted quite low – and he went on to start a lot of games for the Raptors and establish himself as a key contributor. What’s wrong with that?

As for the list above – I can see Chasson Randle sticking around – dont think he’ll ever be great, but after a year of pro ball in Europe I could see him carving out a niche as a backup PG – like brian roberts.

yabusele im not surprsed about, murray and zimmermann were drafted way too low…but bryn forbes im really happy for – and i have no idea why the jazz didnt draft him at #60! Hes going to be one of those annoying spurs reclamation projects isnt he, a guy who fits perfectly into their system.

DeAndre Bembry looked butter-smooth last night. He was doing all manner of things. Kris Dunn looked like the first pick. He looked like a cat in a room full of mice.

Felder for the Cavs looked useful too as a very quick small player who could find shooting positions as the unguarded guy when LBJ, K-Love and co are on court. He could be an impact bench guy for them next year and his speed will go well with the experienced veterans like Jefferson who rely on their basketball IQ.
