MopgrassParticipantYou never know what rumors are true, but the latest is that Phil wants a top 4 pick plus a solid young player. Sounds like a deal. Lakers, you probably just missed this one. This sounds like Celtics territory. The Suns: I’m not sure. Sixers are also out.

Celtics3178ParticipantI heard Phil wants a top 4 pick and 2 players. The celtics could add Crowder and Smart. Leaves the celts with IT4 AB Heyward(hopefully) KP and Horford Leaves is thin on the bench but that’s 5 guys who can all shoot.

Memphis MadnessParticipantSixers should do Saric, Okafor, and 1 for Porzingas, Ron Baker, Marshall Plumlee, 8, 44, and 58.
That would give them a front line of Simmons, Porzingas, and Embiid, with Malik Monk as your probable shooting guard. Freakish Big Four there. Either go smaller with a point guard like TJ McConnell or bigger with Simmons running point and Covington/Justin Anderson/Ron Baker at the other spot. They also have Richaun Holmes as a quality third big as well as a ton of second rounders.
Knicks reload around a Fultz-Saric-Okafor Axis.

DolanCareParticipantThe 3rd pick and Jaylen Brown. It’s a big ask, but a far one.

The GoatParticipantI saw that he wants a minimum of a current lotto pick plus two starters, but prefers an extra future 1st too.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantNot sure how The Jazz could make this happens. But I want to see it.

Andv1 WaitingParticipant76ers-Don’t fit the brief as they wouldn’t give up any of their starters bar maybe Dario and I don’ see them giving up their newly acquired 1st overall pick..
Lakers: If they had kept Russell they maybe could have done 2nd,Russell,Mosgov and their 28th for Porzingas, courtney lee and maybe something else but now I think they are taking themselves out of that as they may want PG to pair with Ingram,Number 2 and others…
Celtics..You could give Bradley,Kelly O,3rd pick a future first top 5 protected and Smart For Porzingas and Courtney lee..Or you could offer Smart, Number 3 and the Brooklyn pick for Kristaps straight trade
This would give you Horford,Kristaps,Crowder,Hayward(if they get him) and I.T yor Bench is basically Jaylen Brown,Rozier and Courtney lee but I am sure they could get some reasonably priced vets to come in..
2nd option gives You: Horford,Porzingas,Hayward,Bradley,I.T bench; Crowder,Brown,Rozier,Kelly O
Suns:No legit options but they may offer this trade: 4th, future first top 8 protected,Bledsoe,Len,Dudley..For Kristaps and an average contract..
KINGS: They have 5th,10 and could offer Ben M…For just Porzingas..Which could tempt Phil..

jaycee24ParticipantI’d want Chriss and Bender plus #4 from PHD minimum and they won’t do that
Boston id take to the cleaners because they have no holes id say Jaylen Brown Rosier and #3 and their 1st next year

jaycee24ParticipantIn a way Phil is being savvy. How could Melo pass getting traded to a contender vs the prospect of hanging around a tanking Knicks team with potentially 2-3 1st or 2nd year players in the starting five if a Porzingis trade does happen.

ndbigdaveParticipantThe concept of trading Porzingis sounds ludacris, but Phil might be on to something…depending on what he gets.
The Knicks currently have the aging Carmelo and the Unicorn, the #8 pick and no cap space. As good as Porzingis may be, the writing is already on the wall that he isnt happy and the Knicks have almost no way to improve over the next few years which means he will leave in a few years and the leverage the Knicks have evaporates.
The key is the package the Knicks get for him, if it is another top pick, a young controllable asset and another future pick that puts the Knicks on their way to rebuilding. As a previous poster said it also makes it unlikely that Carmelo will want to stick around for the rebuild so they can move him as well.
My two main fears for the Knicks and Porzingis are two fold: 1- As previously mentioned he already appears unhappy and on his way to making it clear he wouldnt re-sign in the future, that kills Knicks leverage in trades. 2- Porzingis has already had multiple injuries and he is just a uniquely built human being, part of what makes him so special as a player could also be his undoing.
This is a "sell high" moment and if Phil can maximize the value in return, draft the right players the Knicks go from having one or two decent young guys to build around to perhaps 4 or 5, the goal then becomes to clear salary to try and sign players to go along with the youth. Its an achievable goal over the next 2 or 3 seasons but it is a brighter future than they have now.
