chevilicousParticipantMark Cuban Calls ‘Bullsh*t’ on the NBA for No White House Trip
by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni
One of the highlights of the season for every defending NBA champion is a trip to the White House, where the team is feted by the President of the USA. Unfortunately for the Dallas Mavericks, the League failed to schedule such a trip for them largely due to the condensed 66-game season.
Fortunately for Dirk Nowitzki and company, Mark Cuban figured out a way for the team to visit with Barack Obama. And he’s not happy with the NBA’s schedule makers for the oversight.
Reports ESPN:
The Mavs will visit President Barack Obama next Monday prior to a two-game road trip at Detroit and Boston. Cuban said he was appalled when the NBA released the condensed, 66-game schedule after the lockout and a trip to play the Washington Wizards was not on the schedule. Cuban said he didn’t bother to call the league to complain, but rather asked team CEO Terdema Ussery to call the White House.
“There’s no point in calling them. It’s bull—- by the league not to schedule it,” Cuban said. “I figured I’d do it myself since the league wasn’t smart enough to figure it out. How can you be that stupid? All you’ve got to do is when you’re putting in the scheduling software, say Dallas at Washington, yes. They managed to get Dallas and Miami and all the games set on certain days.”
Champions in each of the four major American sports leagues make an annual trip to visit the President at the White House. Those trips are typically arranged when the defending champion plays in or around the Washington D.C. area.
The Mavericks players — even those who didn’t win rings — all seem excited about the upcoming trip.
As for Mark Cuban, he can probably expect a stern phone call or email from NBA HQ informing him of a fine for voicing his displeasure in such a public way, but he should be used to that sort of thing by now.

BballheadParticipantLet’s answer to this question. Let’s pretend the league scheduled a game in Washington for those whiny Mavs (heck, not even winning a title stopped them from complaining?): there’s no guarantee Obama would’ve been available or in town on that particular day. So what Cuban was going to say then? The league did it on purpose to schedule us to play in Washington on a day Obama wasn’t available!!!! Bull!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Wouldn’t really surprise me.
The NBA’s job is not to set up Obama’s schedule, just in case people don’t know it.
Besides, I know many teams visited the White House in the past few years, in every sport, without being scheduled to play in Washington during that month and some even visited during the offseason.
So Cuban should stop complaining since, sooner or later, he would’ve visited the White House anyway.
