Since the sixers and wolves need to shake things up a little, I think the best decision for both teams would be to make a trade with each other for pieces that match up. For the sixers I would make the trade for the 4 and 16 if and only if they are able to get Cousins or Favors and Henry or George. The wolves however will draft Wesley Johnson unless there is a deal in place. So here is my contingent deal to ensure that Cousins/Favors goes 4th and a deal is in place.

Scenario 1: Henry or George is available at 16

    Sixers Trade: Turner

    Wolves Trade: Cousins/Favors + Henry/George + 23

Scenario 2: Henry and George taken before the 16th pick

    Sixers Trade: Iguodala

    Wolves Trade: Jefferson

In both scenarios the Wolves get their SG/SF that would be a vital clog to help them move forward. Both are good ball handeling guards/ forwards who could play the point forward type role which is ideal for the triangle. The team would be a legitimate playoff threat in a year or two as the young team develops together.

For the sixers, they fill two needs with two quality players through the draft instead of filling just one. They also breakup the logjam at the SF position and allow Young to move into there and see what he can do. In the first scenario they get two young talented players who could help the team develop. They also still have the option of moving Iguodala for another valuable piece. In the second scenario, since we have Turner, we would have 3 quality wing players and one of them would have to be moved. The wolves now with 3 quality bigs would also be in a similar logjam. The sixers would get a legitimate post threat who would allow Brand to play the high post and Young to play the wing. The fit would be perfect for both teams.

there’s a very real chance (I’m not of this opinion though) that turner becomes a 15, 5 and 5 kind of guy. How stupid would minny look if cousins turns out to be a top-5 center (his ceiling is high and I think despite his ‘red flags’ he is going to be a great player in this league with a rare set of skills) and they traded that plus two other first round picks for a slightly above-average wing? this move screams risk especially with so many picks going out the door

fuck with this!! why there no Wizards trading Wall talks??!
he is a big time player as John Wall! give Turner the respect he deserved, he is not a player you just give up based on financial or roster things, he is type of player you build a franchise on and make him the future!

Kobyz so is Cousins. A lot of people feel that if he keeps his head on straight, he’ll be the best player from the draft. Thats why I am proposing an either or scenario. Either we keep Turner and trade Iggy for a big or we trade Turner if we get back Cousins and one of the top shooting guards in the draft. I think some people got confused about the whole trade scenario thing, I’m not proposing that they do both trades, I’m proposing an either or trade depending on what occurs during the draft.

i think contingent is too big of a word for a lot of ppl LOL.

I understand what you’re saying, but I think the answer for the 76ers is to take Turner and trade Iggy. Then there’s no need for any contingencies… If I’m the 76ers, I don’t even want Jefferson’s contract. You’re already stuck with Brand, and you have speights too. I like that second trade, but I think they should get another team involved that has an expiring contract. Then the 76ers replace their SG with one that will cost about 7-8 mill less, and then their under the cap in 2011 when Dalembert, Kapono, and whoever they get in a trade come off the books.

Also, I really think the Wolves would throw in 23 ( or maybe even 16) to get rid of Jefferson and get Iggy in return. Also, that third team would probably be willing to throw in a draft pick too.

I like your thinking but I think you’re underating Jefferson a little. Before his injury he averaged something like 24 and 11! He could play center for you with Brand at the 4 and Speights coming off the bench.

I actually prefer the Turner for Cousins and Henry scenario. I think Cousins is being regarded unfairly. A lot of people compare him to DC attitude wise but I think he is more like Rasheed Wallace. He’s really passionate, he just has trouble containing himself. I think he’ll end up being a great player though and I think Henry is going to be a very good player as well. Thats two good players plus the 23 pick and they still have the luxury of trading Iggy for more pieces since they would have Henry and Young at the wings.

I dont think the wolves would trade 4, 16, 23 for turner. And I agree Jefferson is good, but I don’t think you want him playing next to Brand. I don’t see the 76ers trading Iggy unless they get some cap relief… Jefferson is under contract for a couple more years.
