220ParticipantWith Darren Collison getting traded to the Mavericks, it’s likely to have an effect on the remaining free agent point guards. The thought was Houston and Dallas would each get either Ramon Sessions or Aaron Brooks to be their starter for next year, but with Collison going to Dallas I doubt they bother signing one of those two who are likely to want a long term deal which Dallas isn’t interested in. Houston will still need at least one point guard since the Knicks are certain to match the offer sheet for Lin and the Rockets have no point guards on the roster.
So assuming either Brooks or Sessions signs with the Rockets, where does the other guy end up now? Do the Rockets sign both since they seem to like having point guard competitions? Think about this, at the beginning of last year the Rockets had Kyle Lowry, Goran Dragic, and Jeremy Lin…now their roster is devoid of point guards. They seem to either evaluate point guards well or help them develop.

Codyb1701ParticipantThe Pacers are really showing faith in Lance Stephenson as the backup PG, in the last two days they have gotten rid of their two backups behing George Hill.
Stephenson has been good in Summer League but I’m a little suprised.
PS. didn’t think this was worth a seperate post.

mcbaileyParticipantI doubt they’re planning on using Lance much as the backup PG. They must be fairly confident that they’ll get Augustin.

FastAndFuriousParticipantSo what was all that hoopla about Roddy B being the future???? When is he going to get his shot?

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think he can fill Jason Terry’s role as a scoring 6th man.

festar35ParticipantYeah they are looking to acquire Augustin, so there may not be as much faith as I hoped. If they get Augustin then Stephenson will be back-up 2-guard i guess. Team will be
C. Hibbert/Mahinmi
PF. West/Plumlee
SF. Granger/Green
SG. George/Stephenson
PG. Hill/Augustin0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/11/2012 - 6:05pm #694826
Stinky34ParticipantI think Brooks ends up in Houston and Sessions goes to Chicago to hold things down til DRose gets healthy..

NickAKnightParticipantNo way Sessions goes to Chicago. They already got Hinrich to hold it down and drafted Teague for their long term backup. After the Bobcats trade Augustin I could see them going after Sessions.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantThis was a steal for Dallas, Collison as a great fit with his athleticism, defensive ability and high bball IQ. He will either be a good addition for one year or potential franchise PG if he plays like he did as a rookie in NO.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantAnd all the people praying that Roddy Beaubois will be their full-time starting point guard..Those folks must not understand the game of basketball….He’s a shooting guard in a point guard’s body….He’ll be perfect as the new 6th man,If he doesnt suffer another injury….

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantNo way plumlee is the back up power forward, what about psycho T? He’s a much better player than plumlee is right now

Stinky34ParticipantGreat point on Beaubois… He is a natural scorer with lots of quickness and by getting Collison he can continue coming off the bench and playing a big role like Jason Terry did for them the last few years… If he stays healthy I think hes a strong candidate for 6th man of the year… I like what Dallas has done after missing out on Deron Williams… Adding Kaman and Collison were big moves that can keep them near the top in the wedt…

bball23djnParticipantSo the Pacers past on Perry Jones and reached to draft Miles Plumlee who you figured to be the backup center. Then we trade a good starting PG calibur player and a good role player for another backup center… o yea and this one cant run and chew bubble gum at the same time.
And even if we get Augustine, I still dont think that is an upgrade from Collison.
And playing Plumlee and Mahinmi as the backup 4 and 5 might be good defensivley but how is the 2nd unit going to score. You cant throw it in to the post and expect either of them to score.
I hope Born Ready is ready to carry the load offensively (kidding… sorta)

Andrew1984ParticipantI read that once Charlotte deals Augustin to Indiana, it will set its sights on signing Ramon Sessions to back up Kemba Walker.
