Lotto StudParticipantThe topic of discussion for today, should be based around one of if not the most anticipated incoming freshmen prospect. For those who have been keeping up with Sexton’s off-the-court issues, I would like to hear your take on the situation that’s made headlines within the last hour or so.
As for his draft status, if he isn’t ruled eligible for the whole season, does he still declare for the draft, and what kind of hit will his stock take from the rise of other prospects due to not playing?

whiteflashParticipantSexton has some solid potential, but he is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT NOT READY FOR THE NBA. I’m honestly not sure how ready he is to lead a major D-1 team. Drafting him without seeing how he fares against legitimate competition would be insane.

Robb_CParticipantI like Sexton, He has a really fluid jumper.. very unfortunate news he was gonna have a huge year.

Lotto StudParticipantI think this news makes Trevon Duval more valuable to the draft process.

ChrispyParticipantAvery Johnson and actual scouts were raving about him this summer. Terrible for him. Kid went from nowhere to 5 star to purgatory quick. He will declare and go through the process at the least. Still a top 20 pick regardless.

Lotto StudParticipantI was really looking forward to watching his debut against Memphis, since that game will be televised nationally.

Mr. 19134ParticipantIf hes ruled ineligible for the entire season then the smartest thing to do would be to take the Mudiay route and kill it in China for a couple months or even sign with the G League.
I think guys like Thon, Mudiay, and even Ferguson are showing that if you stood out in an elite high school class and got a work ethic your projected career arc isn’t held back by missing college. Talent, tools and work ethic trump other measuring sticks.

Lotto StudParticipantWith that route being in his favor as far as going overseas, or to the G-League, I’m worried about him not working on the holes in his game, and not just play ball to stuff stat sheets within those leagues. At least under Avery Johnson, he would be showing scouts that he can be a true point guard, which is one of his biggest question marks.

HitsterParticipantIronically his draft status may stay fairly stable in my opinion. Sure he could rise but if there were shortcomings in his game it could be exposed in the NCAA. If he effectively sits out the year, declares then teams will be judging him on last season.
A lot would then depend on his workouts but if he had a good combine and being a fast athletic guy he could put up good numbers in the combine and do highlight reel type workouts. It only ever needs one GM to like him.
If he is ineligible, I’d suggest get himself a good agent, who can get good conditioning workouts sorted for him, maybe get him some one on one specialist coaching too?
Would he be able to play D-League I wonder, obviously he’s not NBA eligible but get himself to a good D-League affiliated team possibly one who may need a PG next summer.
