Im Your FatherParticipantI’m sure I will get negatives for this, but Lebron absolutely belongs on that list. Obviously stats aren’t everything, but Lebron leads in every stat that measures clutchness, including overall game-winners over the past couple years.. I’d take him in crunch time over any player on that list other than Kobe.
On a side note, does anyone else agree that Billups is overrated in the clutch. He is a very good player, but it almost seems like he has bought into his "Mr. Big-Shot" label and often takes ill advised shots in crunch time.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIm Your Father has paid attention. Billups is VERY overrated in crunch time.
Top 5 clutch to me are: Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Brandon Roy, Dirk Nowtizki and Baron Davis.
I know Davis is a wierd name but he’s hit some fantastic shots near the end of games.

Im Your FatherParticipantHaha, Jammin-lemmon I’m with you buddy but we are going to lose this battle. Too many people are absolutely convinced that Lebron is a huge choker with zero killer instinct, who sucks at on the ball defense, has no skills aside from his athleticism, is too ball-dominant ever to succeed, isn’t a winner, and is a horrible person. Am I missing anything?

Im Your FatherParticipantOh I also forgot the part about how he has all-star supporting casts that clutch, winners such as Kobe and Durant could easily won multiple championships with. Also the fact that he is now Dwayne Wades sidekick, but that they won’t work well together, because they aren’t good friends who CHOSE to play together.
I would say that about raps up the reasons why Lebron sucks and isn’t clutch and will never win.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI disagree, Dirk when in position to hit a big and/or game winning shot has more then likely hit the shot. He’s also one of 4 players to ever average 20-10 in the playoffs. He steps up in the playoffs.

Im Your FatherParticipantAh of course I forgot that one. The classic, he sucks at scoring even though he scores more than anyone else for Durant who outscored him by .2, and who he manages to score more efficiently than.
I also forgot to the add the part where he has peaked…he hasn’t improved at all since he entered the league, and will steadily get worse from now until his retirement.
In terms of Dirk, I think he is clutch sometimes, but he has consistently stepped up his game in the playoffs. His playoff averages are noticeably better than his season averages, and he really dominated that Spurs series. His teams have frequently underperformed in the playoffs though. Even still, I think he’s a pretty clutch guy who has hit some daggers.

billykParticipantReggie Miller was NOT overrated… How does somebody read a book an decide a player was overrated.. I saw Miller play throughout his prime 1989-1997 and he carried the Pacers franchise… His 3 pt percentage was always around .40 percent while consistently taking 350+ threes every year, not to mention being on of the top 5 shooters of all time… As far a Miller being clutch from the playoff performances I was he was absolutely clutch, he was a fiercer competitior… 8 pts in 8 seconds aganist the Knicks arguably the most clutch performance in NBA history… Dude was ICE in the clutch…

HaleParticipantNo one said he couldn’t shoot. He was overrated, he is known like he was a superstar but his career averages are 18 3 and 3, OJ Mayo did that as a rookie. He was nothing more then a good scorer. He only averaged 4 reb or assists ONCE in his entire career.

billykParticipantI dont need to read a book I actually saw him play.. He always played well in the playoffs.. The Pacers where always a tough out in the playoffs and Miller usually carried the Pacers.. If you actually watched Miller play in the playoffs he was always the Pacers go to guy and he was somebody who made pressure shots… Check his resume he was a very clutch player..
Yup Yup have you ever seen Reggie Miller play??? Miller carried the Indiana Pacers most of his carrer, he was the number one option on a team that regularly went to the playoffs.. He was a unique playerr in the sense that he was a specialist (shooter)… He was a player that used screens to get the majority of his shots, he wasnt really a primary ball handler… Please dont compare Miller to OJ Mayo, Miller carried a FRANCHISE…You cant measure his impact by numbers…

A) He didn’t always play well in the playoffs. Simmons recounts like 4-5 Game 7’s and other close out games where he didn’t do well.
B) He was a go to guy for a team who did not win a title. He never could lead a team to a title.
C) JUST READ the book where you can see it. It’s in black and white and u deny to see it.

HaleParticipantYeah that is a joke. He had Rik Smits and Jermaine O’Neal for most of his career to help him. He was a great shooter and nice scorer, that’s it. I didn’t compare him to OJ, I said his career numbers are what OJ did as a rookie, so obviosuly he couldn’t have been THAT special. He was never a dominant player. He was great in the playoffs, I’ll give you that. He was a number one option on a team that won what? Nothing. He always had solid teams when they went to the playoffs, he didn’t carry them like Kobe carried the Lakers with Smush and Kwame. You are drastically overrating him. Second option at best for a great team, he couldn’t do anything but score and the game is about much more than that. How can you argue this guy carried a franchise? His numbers aren’t impressive at all. Sure you can say his impact was slightly more than his numbers state but obviously not to the extent you are claiming.

Obviously he did play well EVERY game he played, but he was a GREAT playoff perfomer he stepped his game up in the playoffs.. He has is legendary for his playoff performances.. Everytime I remember seeing him play he have strong effort… He played BIG on a BIG stage… So whats did what where his stats in the Games 7’s he didnt do well???
B) He was a go to guy for a team who did not win a title. He never could lead a team to a title.
Its not a shame that he could lead his team to a title, many all time greats couldnt lead their team to a title as a number one option.. Only a handful of players has lead their team to titles as a number one option in NBA history.. I dont think that doesnt make him any less clutch…
C) JUST READ the book where you can see it. It’s in black and white and u deny to see it.
I have seen him play in the playoffs… I have watched Miller perform from 94- til his retirement and he usually played well in the playoffs.. He was one of the MOST CLUTCH PLAYERS IN NBA HISTORY.. Like i said instead of relying on Bill Simmions check his resume…

Miller was on the down side of his career.. Barkely, Malone, Pistol Pete, Nique, Ewing, Baylor, etc.. Never won championship as number one options.. Players like David Robinson, Wilt, Clyde had to get traded to win a championship.. Believe me Miller carried the Pacers franchise, like I said YUP YUP have you ever seen him play???

Mr. 19134ParticipantI never was a huge fan of Miller and use to love watching him trying to guard Iverson in the playoffs.
But after he retired I kinda became a fan because nobody played like after he left. He was extremely unique in being the number one option but he was a straight catch and shoot player who could really score off of an iso well. Miller had an underrated post game and an array of jabs and pump fakes to get himself open.
But what is truly amazing is I never noticed how many playoff games that he did play. 144 is a lot of playoff games. And the fact that he averaged 20 points per game in the playoffs up from his 18 ppg career average is also extremely impressive.
And Jamal Crawford is a very clutch player who I always thought was overlooked but he does not belong in the top 5.

Mr. 19134ParticipantMy bad I meant to say that Reggie Miller coundn’t score off of an iso well…depended on the matchup but it was def a play he was not as comfortable with.
Pump fake-jab right-dribble right-half spin-pump fake-up and under-and one…only Reggie Miller would score off an iso like that.
