Choooch10Participantokay so there are a ton of rumors about the lakers being intrested in Chris Paul. If that happens the lakers will be scary! so im just throwing around players to see what happens.
Lakers Get
Chris Paul
David WestHornets get
Andrew Bynum
Lamar Odom
2012 first round pick
2013 first round pickthe salaries would work out. Do you guys think it could work?

the I in winParticipantLakers get smaller and don’t have a back up big man, sure they have 2 of my top 3 players but they would be kinda small. Pau is very good but at center he gives up a bit of weight.

DaleoParticipantit would work but the lakers would i think get worse. They would have to have josh powell or dj mbenga come off the bench. And Chris Paul works great under a fast pace offense and control the tempo, with kobe that wouldn’t really happen.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantLakers do not benefit from this at all, they get two good players but they do not mesh well with the Lakers, it wouldn’t work, Fisher plays within the Triangle with Kobe and Artest and it is efficient and successful as you can see, Paul would not benefit in that system at all, he is not that type of player. West would not work well within it either, as a big man you need to be a good passer as well such as Gasol who is an excellent passer and Bynum who is underrated but is actually a decent passer to have. Lakers are also giving up their only somewhat consistent bench player in Odom who offers them versatility and scoring coming off the bench. The Lakers only real weakness is their bench and by giving away a guy like Odom would not help that problem out whatsoever.
Giving up those two future first round picks is not beneficial at all either because Lakers do need to add some young pieces to their team to help them in the future and to give those away for two players that do not mesh well nor help the Lakers would be a complete waste. It looks good on paper but so do a lot of other things, its all about what works best with what type of players and system and Paul and West are not those players.

Charlie SheenParticipantI think a possible Chris Paul trade would be to Portland only because they have movable pieces maybe a deal like this
Portland gets
Chris Paul
Emeka Okafor- contract reasonsNew Orleans gets
Greg Oden or Joel Pryzbillia 2 true Centers to play next to David West and with Collison and Thorton
Jerryd Bayless- solid back up combo guard
Rudy Fernandez contracts should match then another wing and building block for New OrleansPortland would recieve like 24 mil and New Orleans would recieve about 21 mil under league rules it may work but another piece may need to be added

ilmagoParticipantThey are not doing this. West’s contract is great and pays less in the final 2 years. Paul is still great. Bynum’s knees are a concern and Odom is getting old…
Plus, the picks are likely to be late rounders AND you are not allowed to trade back to back first rounders. So this trade is not even legal0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/28/2010 - 1:08am #343052
marcusfizer21ParticipantLakers again? sigh…
