esperanzafleet69ParticipantOver the past few days of speculation on where all these free agents will go, i’ve heard a LOT of things said about bosh. one of the most ridiculous things ive heard is that he’s some amazing defensive player that anchor’d down the heat. did he magically transform into a young marcus camby? Some of these online articles (notably a cbssports article) went as far as to say that he was a Top 10 defensive player in the league..
my question is, what are these people smoking?
Did they not watch the finals where splitter and duncan made the heat look like fools?
bosh averaged 1blk and 1stl this year. and to say he’s a top 10 defender, or a good defender at all, is a stretch.
anyways.. good for him (and wade) that he signed back with the heat.

OllstarParticipantHe is a decent pick and roll defender. Quicker than most bigs.

imAboutDatActionParticipantHis help and PnR defense is really good.
He’s not a dominate rim protector but the he made real improvements on that end when he joined Miami.
He’s a two way player. His defense should be noted as a strength.

he_gets_bucketsParticipant"He only averaged 1 block and 1 steal this year". If we are going by number of blocks and steals as an indication of how good of a defender someone is, I guess Dennis Rodman is a terrible defender, since he never averaged 1 block or 1 still in his entire career?
No, Bosh isn’t a Serge Ibaka or a Deandre Jordan help side defender, a Roy Hibbert or Marc Gasol presence under the basket, but he is one of the smarter big men in the league and knows how to defend the pick and roll as good as any big in the league, which is what most offences are centralized around nowadays. San Antonio’s ball movement predicated offense makes everyone on the opposition look bad, not just the bigs. Give credit where credit is due, sure Bosh may not be a top 10 defensive player, but he is still a damn good one.

esperanzafleet69Participanttrust me ive seen worm quite a bit, i grew up watching the bad boys. rodman averaged like 13 or so defensive rebounds a game during his DPOY years with them, which is largely why he won the awards. not to mention dennis could legitly guard every position on the floor. bosh shouldnt even be mention’d in the same sentence. his defense is spotty at best, more like the late top 10 among power forwards, not the entire league.
