ZouldiersParticipantThat was crazy man and it still is until today. I actually watched this on TV when I was a kid and it was crazy that Artest got suspended for 73 games that season. Definitely Malice at the Palace.

CynthiaParticipantYeah, I’m definitely going with Malice at the Palace. In fact I was watching some top 10 sports moments of all-time on YouTube a few days ago and it was like #3, it was the first time I’ve seen it in years and I almost forgot how crazy it really was. It even has it’s own Wikipedia page dedicated to it…

mgreener_34ParticipantI wouldn’t say its my favorite, because it was horrible, but I have to go with H. You know something is so bad and intense when ESPN refuses to let other networks/movie makers have access to the film rights. They don’t want you to see that anywhere else but on Youtube, and cover it up like the MLB and steroids.
Some of my all-time favorite moments though are:
-When the Heat made fun of Dirk for being sick, and he came out the next game and absolutely torched them in the second half
-KG’s "Anything is possible" scream
– KD’s MVP speech
– Baron Davis’ dunk heard round the world against AK47
– But I think one of my favorite moments of all time would have to be 2014 when the Spurs won. It was such an incredible story of redemption, comradery, and focus that you couldn’t help but cheer for them.

The QParticipantI don’t see how any Celtic fan could ever root for the Spurs.

mgreener_34ParticipantWell I’m a basketball fan 1st, and also, if theres one thing in the world you should never underestimate, it’s a Celtics fans hate for LeBron…WEEI in Boston just had a survey were LeBron ranked above Peyton Manning as the most hated rival athlete for us. Think about that for a second, how much bigger the Pats are than the Celtics, and how much the NFL trumps the NBA, and the animosity we Boston fans have towards LeBron starts to become a litttle clearer.

The QParticipanta "baskeball fan" would never support what the spurs did to get duncan and thus not root for them at all.
they weren’t a legit bad team. They threw away a 2nd round at least team for a shot at duncan and lied to the nba to trick them into thinknig duncan would retire and they needed an heir to save the franchise from relocation.
it was a giant fraud. But man I keep forgetting how young the crowd is on here.

mcgee555ParticipantExplain to me how an aging, injury-riddled 96-97 Spurs are a "2nd round at least team." In the first round of the playoffs they would have had to play Utah, Seattle, LAL, or Houston.
Boston’s tanking gave them the second best odds to win the lottery that year, it just so happened that the team with the third best odds ended up with the first pick. If it wasn’t the Spurs it could have just as easily been another lottery team. San Antonio’s season had no effect on Boston’s chances to get Duncan.

Bed HeadParticipantTherefore I’m sure Rip won’t mind my co-opting this thread with some "memorable moments" of a different sort:
Soooo, anyways, the NBA Players’ Association Awards (voted on by the players) were on BET last night. How am I the only one here who watched? The show was awful, btw. At any rate, the MVP was James Harden and DPOY DeAndre Jordan. Further confirmation of something I’ve long suspected … NBA players know nothing about basketball. In all seriousness, though, some of the awards were all, like, super stupid. Here’s the full list:
On a related note, that TripAdvisor.com commercial with the dog that barks, "Book!" is (without a doubt) the single most annoying thing ever. Chinese prison camps should, like, play it on a continuous loop. I seriously can’t imagine a worse torture.

The QParticipantOut of that list by the OP…easily the Malice at the Palace.
Ben Wallace started it, the city of Detroit finished it.
It was perfect that it fell on that felon David Stern’s watch.
I would say the Ewing theory but peole are still dumb enough to believe that the lottery (and games) aren’t rigged. But the dude freaking Gronk Spikes that envelope into the container.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIf we’re talking about actual basketball plays, shaq dunking on dudley in 1999 was priceless. Dudley’s reaction was hilarious.

XYRYXParticipantMalice at the palice definetly! Even it’s a very sad in basketball this was by far the heftiest thing ever happened on a court or in a game. The decision was even more well played from a media standpoint since today incidents like the Lawson DUIs is on all media instantly. It started with the decision and from twitter, Instagram or Facebook everyone is completely covered all the time. If Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger go for a burger eating battle in some diner anywhere it’s at least on 5 twitter accounts nowadays…
i still remember downloading one 160 mb file and another 200mb video with my ISDN 64 Connection for per Minute money and putting this on a phone or viewing it with a mobile device was hardly possible. The good old days man!
