Wizards034ParticipantWhich player would you want on your team

Mr. BasketballParticipantbudinger because i already think alexander is a bust.

HaleParticipantSo Jerryd Bayless is a bust too because he didn’t play much either? It has been not even one calnder year yet. Give him a chance to play first.

gatorheelsParticipantBudinger just because I think he is a slightly better shooter and slighty smarter player. Plus Budinger can play SG. Yeah its too early to call Alexander a bust but I just couldn’t understand why the Bucks drafted him at #8 last year.

butidonthavemoneyAlexander has a longer wingspan, is stronger and plays better defense.

jdubsram-13ParticipantHe got outplayed by Mbah A Moute who was drafted in the second round after he was drafted in the lottery in the same draft. If Budinger plays like he is predicted to then I would definitely take him.

rvirsalParticipantplays a lot like jefferson so he couldn’t crack the rotation. mbah a moute was capable of staying in the court with jefferson so he was able to get his minutes, plus he could play the 2,3 and 4. i think mbah a moute’s work ethic and hustle made skiles choose him over joe alexander in the rotation. but i still think joe alexander still has a lot of upside, i wish the rumored deal between memphis and milwaukee pushed through last january (alexander + sessions for conley).

bbrzParticipantExpect a big year from alexander he’s been working with scott skiles all summer on his defensive positioning and shot selection. When he got playing time he produced at a high level. Skiles just doesn’t tolerate players not in the right spots on defense and that’s the only reason he didn’t play. If he learns the system and gets more playing time he’s going to be good he’s an absolute freak of an athlete. I watched the guy take off from behind the free throw line and complete a dunk. He and Ersan Illyasova are the reason that villanueva is gonna walk without a offer from the bucks. How can you call a guy who was hurt to start camp and having to learn 2 nba positions a bust after posting 5pts and 4reb in 6min of play on average a game. Give him time the bucks didn’t draft him on imediate impact they drafted on potential which he has a lot of.

borlackParticipantbut there is a huge difference with mbah a moute and joe. luc plays as a role player with hard-nosed defense, joe is known for his athleticism and scoring and ability to get into the paint…plus the acqusition of r.jeff really hurted his chances of playing especially with the resurgance of charlie v… but i think both players have potential, they are just both projects, for some reason i feel as though budinger is going to be like a more athletic brent barry or cool hand luke jackson haha, but if skiles is smart in developing joe i think joe can be better

bballtalksParticipanti think it depends on the system budinger goes to… cuz i think he could really thrive depending on the situation. however id rather have alexander on my team… i think he is a better defender than budinger as far as staying infront of his man and defence wins championships in my mind. also i think alexander didnt realy have a chance to show himself last season as he played behind jefferson.

sheltwon3ParticipantI thought hard about this and I would say Alexander because he has greater upside and he seems tougher than Chase.

JayK21How can you flat out say that Alexander got 5 points and 4 rebounds in 6 minutes of play? That is a complete lie. He got 4.7 point and 2.0 rebounds in 12 minutes a game. Don’t just make up stats man. I mean that changes things from him averaging around 15 and 6.5 per 40 minutes to averaging 34 and 27 rebounds. Haha, changes things quite a bit. I don’t think Alexander pulls down 2 boards every three minutes. Thats Wilt Chamberlain numbers my friend.

glm51391Participantchase buddinger and alexander are similar athletes. Alexander is a very smart player but buddinger possesses much more explosiveness in a transition game to a suns like offense. Alexander might have a slight edge on decision making. But buddinger is more polished offensively as his jumpshot proves to be NBA ready.

JNixonParticipantI like Budinger. Alexander is one of those “potential” guys and I dont see him getting it anytime soon. He is athletic but I dont think he will ever shoot good enough to play alot of minutes in the league. I do think Budinger will develop into a shooter/scorer type role for the team he’s drafted by.

Lodzio20ParticipantI choose Mbah a Moute over Joe and Chase

rtbtParticipantAlexander:
He is a guy who’s still learning the game. He was relatively inexperienced when he went to college and got off to a very slow start at WV. When the Bucks drafted him, they knew Alexander was a long term project. He is extremely athletic and has a ton of potential. Will he come close to reaching that potential? Obviously we don’t know yet. However, anyone who says he is a failure after only one season, when he didn’t have an opportunity to play, doesn’t understand basketball.
Forget the stats posted by others in this thread, the guy spent his rookie year on the bench. When he did play a few minutes here and there, his stats were meaningless.
In addition, we live in a culture where everyone expects immediate gratification or results. Face it, some guys are good from day one and others take time. I have a feeling Alexander will be one of those late blooming guys.
Budinger:
There are a number of 6 ft 6 to 6 ft 7 inch athletic black guys in the NBA who are thin and and have long range jumpers. But who does everybody compare Budinger to? Of course they find two white guys, Luke Jackson and Brent Barry.
The comparison with L. Jackson is ludicrous. He wasn’t a good shooter and he isn’t even in the league any more. At least with B. Barry, I can see some similarities. But come on guys, why do you continue to compare white players only with other white guys?

bbrzParticipantExplain to me again why you believe buddinger is a more explosive player in transition? Alexander has a 40in vertical and was the fastest guy on the team!!! Alexander may have a better jumpshot to. once again the only reason he didn’t play was because for one he was learning 2 count it 2 nba positions as a rookie!! and he was coming into one of the more complex defensive schemes in the league. mbah a moute has a gift to defend but at times was benched for making defensive mistakes. He only stayed in because he has a nose for the ball and averaged like a million offensive rebounds!! They both will be strong nba players in 5 years and will be starting when redd and jefferson leave.
