It irritates me how year after year the Charlotte bobcats keep getting these top picks almost year after year and somehow they keep blowing it. If you think about it what player have they actually drafted worked out for them? Every player they drafted has not met expectations. What is going on with their management? Are they sleep? who scouts for them? who can you actually say since the Bobcats was made that they had a steal(jury is still out on Kemba Walker, MKG) or has been a “cornerstone” player ?

Which brings me to my next question, why do the good teams get punished in the draft and the bad team continue to get the high draft picks. Also Charles Barkley spoke about this before as well.

Let take a look at Charlotte Bobcats History:
    04- Emeka Okafor
    05- Raymond Felton, Sean May
    06- Adam Morrison
    07- Brandan Wright
    08- DJ Augustin, Alexis Ajjinca
    09-Gerald Henderson
    10- n/a
    11- Michael Kidd- Gilcrest

Another “adjustment” that needs to be made to the draft is instead of selecting the draft order behind closed doors, it needs to be done old school style ….with the ping pong balls.

I do prefer the ping pong ball method.. I always found it much more unique and fun. I think there are 2 key problems with Charlotte. 1. They have a very ineffective staff that evaluates players for the draft. 2. They have no real solid veteran players that the younger players can look up to and learn. Charlotte is a fairly young team with Kemba, Biyombo, MKG, etc. MKG, in particular, shouldn’t be judged yet as to whether he was a solid pick or a bust. I always thought he was one of the safer picks in last years draft. He has very good intangibles but was struggling last season to adjust into the NBA. He played good defense, which is what I expected him to do and plays hard/with heart. He was also one of the youngest if not the youngest player in the NBA. Therefore, I think he will improve drastically within a season or two more.

They need to stop changing the coach every year, it’s bad for a growing young team to have to learn a new philosophy and offense every year.

MKG has little to no offensive game. He was a bad pick at #2. His shot is broken, that hitch won’t go away and he doesn’t have a particularly effective driving game either.

Barnes should have been Charlotte’s pick, hands down. They need to get more two-way players instead of going for purely defensive guys like Biyombo and MKG.

Intangibles are all good and well, but only in addition to tangibles.

I love MKG as a player, but I remain bitterly disappointed that Barnes wasn’t picked up by Charlotte.

You can’t possibly say that Kemba Walker at pick 9 in the ’11 draft was bad pick. His stats from this season are much higher than most realize, placing him among the better point guards in the league. At the PG position he ranked 6th in PPG, 9th in RPG, 4th in BLKPG, 5th in STPG making a strong case that he is a top 10 point guard in the NBA, sure he was ranked 22 in APG but who on the Bobcats is he expected to pass to with the confidence they will make the shot? I think that given he is only a second year player in possibly the worst NBA team in history, Kemba is a far better player than most currently realize. Just Imagine Kemba in decent team…

On top of drafting poorly, I think they must be doing a poor job of developing their young players.

I think each team should get one ping pong (that didn’t make the playoffs)..It will make the NBA more competitive and less tanking at the end of the season. The last two weeks are pathetic.. But I agree the Bobcats can’t draft worth of shhh..they are worst then the Oakland Raiders. If you look at the players that passed up, Brook Lopez, Rudy Gay, etc. They should be a top 5 team in the east.

Charlotte needs a decent free agent, to make the next jump out of the lotto, but their last couple drafts have been pretty good.

I really don’t think their young core is that bad ( okay back court and SF position ). Kemba Walker, IMO, could be a 20 ppg scorer next season and Gerald Henderson, when healthy, is an athletic 15 ppg scorer at the SG position who’s improved his long range game ever season and MKG has the making of a good defensive 3 and Jeff Taylor a good backup for him.

I hate Mullens, there is no reason a 7 foot athletic guy should launch 200 three pointers if he only makes 31% of them and Bismack really isn’t that bad considering he’s only 20 years old, but he shouldn’t be playing as big of a role for them because he’s not ready to. I think they need front court help, either a better center who plays near the basket or a more skilled PF who can let Bismack develop behind him.

If Thomas Robinson is available, I think they should make a push for him and if not Anthony Bennett, Alex Len and Cody Zeller would be good options for them. I don’t really like Oladipo as a Bobcat because I think he’d play behind Henderson and they need scoring more than defense IMO. When push comes to shove, I think the Cats have been turning the wheel of bad picks with Herderson ( as the 12th pick he has a career scoring average higher than 5 guys taken ahead of him) Walker, MKG and Taylor. IF they are smart this year and grab a front court player or if McLemore (he’s still come off the bench behind Henderson, but his shooting would help spread the floor ) drops and they grab him as the BPA they could continue their upward trend.
