Ford released his first mock for the next draft. Each year the hype for many of the freshman (and even sophomores at times) in the class is unwarranted. Last year when Ford published his 2016 draft mock in the top ten he had Skal (as the 2nd best prospect) Malik Pope and Malik Newman. In the top 30 he included Isaiah Briscoe, Tyler Dorsey and Svi Mykhailiuk.

Of his board this season I can see a few guys falling (and these may not be popular picks).

    • Malik Monk
    • Lonzo Ball
    • Jonathan Isaac
    • Harry Giles (if there is an injury; hopefully there isn’t)

    Guys I can see rising

    • Mikal Bridges (Villanova)
    • Bennie Boatwright (USC)
    • Lauri Markkanen (Arizona)
    • Tyler Lydon (Syracuse)
    • Marques Bolden (Duke)
    • Chimezie Metu (USC)

    What do you guys think?

I actually think Malik Monk will rise a bite. When he played PG  at the Nike Global challage last summer he lead the event in assist and finished top 3 in scooting. He’s a combo guard who can actually run a offense.

Disagree w/ some on the list. Here’s mine….

    Rising:

    • Malik Monk
    • Jaron Blossomgame
    • Tyler Lydon
    • Malcolm Hill

    Falling:

    • Miles Bridges
    • Jayson Tatum
    • Wenyen Gabriel (based on NBAdraft.net mock)

I disagree w/ the Malik Monk one because that I believe NBA scouts/talent evaluators would see the potential in Monk like they did w/ Zach LaVine and Russell Westbrook, more Westbrook. I believe Monk will be an elite scorer in college that have his stock as high as top 7.

I certainly think there is a chance for Monk to be a special player- but his shot selection has to improve. That said, him becoming an ‘elite college scorer’ may be a bit unlikely. Calipari has only had one 20ppg scorer in his recent years, that being Jamal Murray. Brandon Knight scored 17 a game, Wall 16 and Rose 14. Bledsoe scored 11 off the ball his freshman season.

Is Monk ready to play primarily off the ball and be an effective and efficient scorer?

I cant take any of these mocks seriously.

Name a single draft site that has proven it has good scouting resources outside the US.

What you get is a big board of over rated, low efficiency, American HS stars that will turn out exactly like Malik Newman and Aaron Harrison.

NBA teams are smarter than that now.

Thats why on draft day, this site was so inaccurate and DX was flat out embarrassing.

Theres no point even suggesting alternative prospects on this forum since anything that goes against the status quo is met with fear and xenophobia
