One of the top remaining lead guards made his decision on Monday.

Cezar Guerrero, of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, verbally committed to Oklahoma State, according to his travel team coach Dinos Trigonis.

“Having LeBryan Nash a part of the class with him was attractive,” Trigonis told Scout.com. “J.P. Olukemi is a sophomore. He had a good year and is returning.”

“He wanted to be in a situation where he didn’t feel like he had to carry the load,” Trigonis added. “Not that he can’t do that, but he understands at a higher level he can’t do everything by himself.”

A number of other high major programs made a play for Guerrero, but the recent coaching changes helped him come up with a decision.

“With [Jeff] Capel going down [at Oklahoma], it made the decision a little easier,” Trigonis said. “Iowa was in there too.”

Guerrero, a three-star prospect that ranks among the top 25 point guards in the country, also felt comfortable with Travis Ford as his head coach.

“He felt good with Travis being a guard coach,” Trigonis said.

Guerrero and Nash, a top 10 recruit, make up their two-man 2011 recruiting class.

Interesting if he develops into a top tier PG in college. If so, I think it’s a win for Travis Ford and Oklahoma State because they can recruit good players.

maybe you’re new but anything related to basketball gets put up here. when prospects sign with a school it goes up here. Actually even non basketball things get put up here. ..now you know in the future when someone puts up something that has nothing to do with the NBA draft

Kinda like when you commented on wally judge transferring when he has done nothing relevant in college basketball. Wasn’t really news either and Cezar has just as many post on here as Judge does

He’ll be fun to watch. Provides a flashy floor game and a nice shot, especially off the bounce. Should be a good fit for OK State and their wide-open offense, he will have more freedom than most Fr. PG’s, and he’ll have Keiton Page returning alongside him.
