JonOatsParticipantWith the trade deadlne looming here are two trade ideas that together would move Boston towards the future.
Boston gets Paul Milsap, Eric Bledsoe, Randy Foye, Trey Thompkins, Travis Leslie, Utah’s first round pick (10th), Clippers second round pick (53rd)
Utah gets Rajon Rondo-the young pg they need to go with all their front court talent
Clippers get Ray Allen-shooter to give Blake and DeAndre some space
Celtics New Line up for this season:
Starters: Bledsoe, Foye, Pierce, Milsap, KG
Bench: Dooling, Bradley/Leslie, Johnson/Thompkins, Bass/Wilcox, Stiemsma
Off-Season:
Draft-10th pick Myers Leonard, 16th pick Dion Waiters, 23rd pick Jeff Taylor, 46th pick D Miller, 53rd pick T Taylor
Free Agents with KG, O’Neil, Foye and Wilcox’s contracts coming off ($35million)-
Spencer Hawes ($10million)
Nick Young ($8million)
Landry Fields($5million)
2012-13 Lineup
Starters: Bledsoe, Young, Pierce, Milsap, Hawes
Bench: Waiters/T Taylor, Fields/Bradley, Johnson/ J Taylor, Bass/D Miller, Leonard
Total Payroll- $62.2 million
This are obviously estimates for what the free agents could be signed for. This plan is staying true to the youth movement. Signing a more experienced PG to run things or drafting K Marshall or T Wroten instead of going big early could change things up a bit too. This team is young with a bench that has a ton of potential.

bobbybParticipantWHY REBUILD?? They just won 5 games in a row. They are not a favorite but they are a definitely a contender. They have Rondo who has been great, Pierce a clutch scorer and Garnett/Allen are big expiring contracts.KG is 19 and 10 in the last 10 games. They can resign them next year for a big discount which would leave them cap space to go after another free agent.
If they were out of the playoffs and had injuries , then maybe you could make deals . You never know, Bulls/Heat can get an injury and the Celtics could beat them. Last year a 8 seed ( without RUDY) beat a 1 , Orlando got knocked out by Hawks, And who was picking the MAVs to win it all….Nobody did!

akhan786ParticipantI really want the Celtics to somehow get Josh Smith. Rondo and Smith played together in high school and a young big three of Rondo, Jeff Green, and Josh Smith could make some noise in a couple years.

ShekiruBoomParticipantwell i dont think they can beat the heat or bulls nevermind the west. but i think if you want to rebuild right, you suck and you suck hard. the worst position in the nba is to be caught in that middle as a fringe playoff team, not in the lottery and not a championship contender and it seems your new celtics will be in that cursed ground. i think the best plan for the celtics is to just keep rondo and suck hard for a year or two and restock with top 5 talent and completely start anew

bobbybParticipantBoom, i know is sucks but SOMEBODY has to be in the middle.
The only way BLOWING up a team works is to blow up the entire team, like Seatlle Sonics. They moved everyone, stunk for 2 years, and drafted wisely.
The Celtics are not in a position to do that.

omphalosParticipantCeltics are going to have a LOT of cap space this off-season, if they could nab Dwight, re-sign Jeff Green and draft well with their two first-round picks this season they could skip the rebuild entirely.
