So I got a lot of grief for my Lakers dream scenario that I decided to make a Celts one and hope it goes over better. Please remember its a DREAM scenario, not saying it will all be done.

I think after this playoff series Garnett will retire, he’s loosing it now and its showing.

Trade Brandon Bass and Jason Terry for Emaka Okafor. ( Frees up 12 million more for 2014, gives them a decent strong defender ALA kendrick perkins for a year)

Trade Courntey Lee and Fab melo for Amir Johnson. ( Adds another big man, gets rid of Lees contract and gets Amirs expiring deal of 8 mill.)

Sign a MLE gaurd this offseason.

Lineup next year. Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Sully or Green, Okafor. With sully or green, amir, Twill, and the MLE guy off the bench.

By 2014 offseason Pierce’s contract will be up for 16 mill plus okafor and amir johnsons up for a total of 21 mill, no more garnett, and no long term deals….. will have enough money for 2 max free agents in 14 with already a core of Rondo, Bradley, Sully and Greene…..

A dream scenario would be that doctors in Boston discover an age reversing medicine and turn KG and Pierce into 26 year old versions of them selves.

I don’t like the idea of trading Lee and Melo for Johnson. We have no concept of Melo’s value yet, Rivers is bringing him along slowly like he did with Avery Bradley, don’t be surprised if he’s a key player next year or the year after.

I’m not sure if I want Garnett to retire, although it is disappointing how much he’s aged.

Depending on how long Rondo takes to recover, the Celtics could be back in the lottery next season – although given how weak the East is maybe not.

Toronto would not trade Amir for those guys anyway.

Their dream scenario is that KG and Pierce retire this offseason, then they can comfortably move forward and finally rebuild. If they both retire it frees up money and they can give up on the idea of trying to compete right now. It also keeps them from having to make a lot of tough decisions that might not be popular with fans.

I see KG sticking around for one more season. Making the transition to an assistant coach.
I see them keeping Pierce and trading him next deadline for some building pieces. Then bringing him back to the front office (assistant GM to start) whenever he retires.

It is officially a rebuild now. Do it like the Rockets just did. Pick up as many draft picks over the next season or two to start developing players or trading up to bigger young assets. Still have some good pieces (many listed in the OP) that can be shipped out for value.

Starting backcourt is set. Now they have to find their new KG of the future.

Basically the model they have had for the past six years is fine. Just have to build up the talent to fill the spots.

I see them freeing up money to push for Lebron.

Lot of $$$ in this market for him. As much in Boston as anywhere

I don’t even see the point of these “dream scenarios”. Here is my dream scenario:

Clay Bennett dies in a fire-y plane crash, and his widow sells the OKC Thunder to Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer.

Shouldn’t a dream scenario end up in them winning a Championship?
