Lotto StudParticipantI’m locked in waiting for the scoop on how he gets his players like every other high profile prep school since they claim they do not recruit.

delfamParticipantwhy do you think he recruits, Hurley is so good people probably come to him

WizardofOzParticipantThat’s crazy! One of them travels all the way from Brooklyn to Jersey City! I don’t think I would be able to go through all of that.

Lotto StudParticipantWhat are all the rules coach Hurley said he has for any player wanting to play with him?

rtbtParticipant- No alcohol
- No Smoking
- No Drugs
- No Tattoos
- Short Hair
- Attend class and get good grades
- etc.
In 39 years all but two of his students made it to college.

Lotto StudParticipantI like the fact that he drug test, because I believe it should be mandatory in HS sports.
1 rule I hate is the tattoo rule. It’s a shame a player who already has tattoos not be able to play for him. I can understand if you have a tattoo already & not be able to get anymore once you are on the team & make them patch up like LeBron did, which is I believe is a state rule in Ohio. Tattoos are becoming more & more popular for the younger generation. I had got all my tats in HS when I was 17. The earliest I seen someone have a tat was in the 6th grade which was my homeboy.

rtbtParticipantThe tattoo rule, just like short hair, is all about self discipline and taking pride in yourself. That includes his rules on academics because discipline is the key to becoming successful in life and going to college.
Did you see the interview with his players and how well they communicated and handled themselves like young adults?

Lotto StudParticipantThe tattoo rule is what will disqualify many.

knicksfan7ParticipantBest part of the whole segment was the end when asked his greatest accomplishment that only 2 kids did not go to college of all the kids he has coached. That speaks volumes that it is the kids education matters more than the accomplishments on the court. I aspire to be like Coach Hurley. He is absolutely brilliant at what he does and is one of the few people that has no skeletons in his closet. Also, I am convinced though not said that when his players are choosing between schools he steers them towards schools that have high character coaches as well as fitting the player’s needs.

rtbtParticipantKnicksFAn7, you are so right. That was the whole point of that 60 Minutes Segment. Coach Hurley is far more than just a basketball coach, he changes the lives of the young men on his team in a positive way. That 39 year college entrance record is mind boggling.
