nick5354ParticipantMemphis have finally pulled the trigger on a long awiated trade however did not involve Gay or Randolph
Memphis sent big man Marreese Speights, guard Wayne Ellington, guard Josh Selby and a future first-round draft pick to the Cavs for forward Jon Leuer.
The pick is the most valuable part of the deal for the Cavs. In 2015 or 2016, if the Grizzlies’ first-rounder falls between picks 6-14, the pick goes to the Cavs.
This is a great deal for the cavs and one that needed to be done for memphis in order to reduce payrol by 6 million.
Speights is only 25 and provides much needed power and force in the front court in which cavs need. Ellington is still youg as well, 25, and a nice SG who may surpise.
Let’s not forgot Selby is also invloved in this trade. He is also only 21 so he is a great asset to the cavs.
A first rounder for any rebuilding team is great and the limitiations/protection for the pick goes down over timeall the way to 2019.
I say well done Cavs.

RafterParticipantYou’re sorta late to the party, there’s a thread about this already.

r377ParticipantThe Grizz have cut their payroll by $6mill but apparently still need to add another 2 players to make the league roster minimum which will cost them at $2mill anyway….
Just saw a report where they rumoured they might look at Delonte West – I don’t know if any playoff team would roll the dice on West anymore….

nick5354ParticipantOh okay, i was confused when I looked up topics on the forum and there was no sight of this trade being talked about. Sorry about the double topic.

ahooper14Participant1. Go Cavs. Love the trade.
2. Nick, your Avatar. Partied with Jonny and Will in Coventry last time he was with DGD in Cleveland. You don’t find too many DGD fans on NBA Boards. I thought I was the only one.
Figured I’d post this is the second thread instead of the previously established one, haha.

Cavaliers420ParticipantI think a lot of people are sleeping on Selby and Speights. Speights is going to really contribute and Selby might actually have a chance to play under coach Scott, who knows what is going to happen..

omphalosParticipantYeah, I think Speights still has a lot of upside as a scorer, I’d have liked to see him in Charlotte where they desperately need someone who can score inside, but Cleveland isn’t too bad.
Is it me or did the Grizzlies give up a lot for nothing? I know they were clearing cap space, but still.

lalailaParticipantit’s funny that people almost forget there were pretty heated discussions between Selby-Knight-Irving just two year ago..and three year ago back in HS Selby may even was more popular choice for a better player..
and now he is a teammate, hopefully legit backup for Kyrie
