Would it be a good idea for the Cavs to try and trade out of the 2nd spot if that’s what they get? Maybe calling the Jazz for there two picks. Now giving them three picks to play with… We all know that this draft is very weak and that the Cavs are going to be picking high again next year being that they need a lot of help. By doing this they could end up with let’s say

Leonard at 6, Knight or Thompson at 8 and Burks at 12

Cavs will suck next year no matter what. Might as well get the best player avaliable with their first pick. They should trade their second pick for another first rounder next year. Next years draft will be stacked and can help them out since they probably can force 2 top 10 picks

yeah, lol, kinda funny that the first rebuilding year they have 2 early picks and most of the top players stayed in school.  they were hoping to get (2) first option type guys.  Trading one of those picks to get in next years draft would be the best thing to do.

I think that if the Cavs don’t land the number 1, but can still select Irving, then they should. If so, the later pick should probably be peddled for one next year. They must stay patient like the Thunder. If they do not get the opportunity to even select Irving, then you sell your top pick for a good package, say a young piece and a future #1, then select the best player available with your second.

The Jazz may look to trade up if they don’t get into the lottery to try and get a shot at Kyrie Irving like they did wirh Deron Williams in 2005 but I think the Cavs will look to draft with both their picks unless the trade up deal was good. They still have the LeBron exception so could use that to get an established player.

Perhaps trying to swap the 8th pick for one next year as a couple of guys above have suggested would be a sound idea but every GM knows how potentially loaded the 2012 draft might be so a likely lottery team lets say the Kings for example would be reluctant to give up an unprotected 2012 pick for the 8th pick.

If Cleveland get in the top 2 then they realistically have to take Williams or Irving and with 8th pick they take BPA to compliment the first pick eg if they take Williams with the first pick take a backcourter and if they take Irving then take a frontcourter with the 8th pick.
