    Mock draft:

    #26 pick Tony Wroten

    #33 pick Kevin Jones

Very nice players but they got Irving at te point and Tristan Thompson pf

but Brad Beal is very nice fit

I like Beal and Jones but why Wroten when they would alreaddy have Irving and Beal? That would be the backcourt of their future I just dont see where Wroten fits in….they should just take the best players available with the exception of pgs.

They need a back up guard, but Wroten would want to run the show. A guy like Kabongo or Lamb would be better for the team coming off the bench.

If they don’t resign Jamison they’ll need a PF bad, it’s not like Kevin Jones expects to start anyway, he’ll play back up minutes.

If it all goes down this way the Cavs will have a lineup of Irving-Beal-Gee-Thompson-Varejao, with a bench of Gibson-Lamb-Casspi-Jones-Hollins/Erden/somebody else

It’s hard to say if they’ll keep Gibson or if they’ll sign anybody, but I like the lineup for the future

I forgot about A. Parker, but he might even retire after this season

I’m a Clevelander and I have wanted Austin Rivers since his high school days, just like I wanted Kyrie Irving since his high school days.

I’d still be happy with Jeremy Lamb or Brad Beal though, and to me, those two are something of a toss-up.

^ I’ve always dreamed of Kyrie Iriving and Austin Rivers forming probably the most intimidating back court in college basketball history but sadly it did not happen. Let’s hope that the two will finally join force at Cleveland.

With the 8th pick I don’t think they can go with another power forward so the shooting guard spot makes the most since.  I haven’t watched much of Beal but he is a good player.  Lamb is good, but this year’s UConn team was a total disaster.  Although he did play very well last year with Kemba Walker and Irving is a similar player but an even better play maker and pure shooter.

That would give them their backcourt of the future along with a solid young power forward.  With their other picks I think they should take a look at Draymond Green at 26 if he is still available.  He is a great leader and a team player who should fit in well with Kyrie Irving.  He is a bulky small forward with more of a power game but he is a great rebounder and has a decent 3 point touch.  He is a willing passer and had a total of 16 assists in the first two tourney games.  They can use him some as a point forward.  A three man if they go big or a "stretch four" if they go small.  Irving, Beal, Thompson, and Green would give them a very solid (if athleticially mediocre) "big four" of the future with Green starting at small forward or coming off the bench as a combo forward 6th man.

With those main four positions set the Cavs should look at picking up a center at 33 or just a solid athlete if not good big man is there.  If Fab Melo falls he might be a good fit.  He can defend and block shots although he is not a big rebounder or stats guy.  Basically Ryan Hollins with a worse GPA.  And the Cavs already have Ryan Hollins.  Mason Plumlee would be a great fit if he declares for the draft.  He has good size and is a great athlete.  He would be a good big man off the bench for the new look Cavs.  … Royce White would be a very undersized center but he would also be a good backup power forward for the Cavs.  However, CJ Leslie might be the combination of size and athleticism that the Cavs need.  He has good upside and would form a great forward rotation with Thompson and Green.  If CJ Leslie declares for the draft and falls to 33, he would be a good pickup for the Cavs.

With the 8th pick I would assume they look for an SG so if we assume that Lamb may be gone then it probably comes down to Beal or Rivers. Beal currently perhaps has higher draft stock but personally I’d like Rivers alongside Irving, both would be former Duke players and knowing they had played under Coach K surely gives them a good understanding. Rivers would be a good fit for Coach Scott as he’d surely be highly coachable and would have been around NBA teams with his dad so it would be less of a culture shot for him.

I could see logic with Wrotton at 26th pick if we assume Parker retires or moves on as he is a combo guard and could play around Irving and Rivers/Beal. They would all be young guys so Coach Scott could dish out minutes so not to over work them.

Personally I’d look for a big with the 26th pick if we assume Jamison moves onto a contender, Fab Melo or Mason Plumlee would seem to be within that draft range or they might take a senior say Andrew Nicholson who could be more NBA ready but have less upside.

33rd pick if Quincy Miller or Marquis Teague were still there then I’d have to take a flyer on one of them.

i doubt come nba draft combine that wroten goes past 20…

with the 33, this is a personal opinion but i feel like a young/developing team like the cavs shouldn’t draft kevin jones. kevin jones fits perfectly in a championship contender team as a role player.

i feel they should go with a player that has a potential pick and roll game with irving, C.J. leslie perhaps

I am so/so on Beal and Lamb at this point. Although I do not believe Rivers will come out, if he was there at 8 like I believe he will be, we should take him in a heartbeat. Rivers has already transformed his game from the time the Buckeyes played Duke earlier in the year. Back then he was coming off the bench and wasn’t doing much outside of slashing through the paint. He has rounded out his game a ton since then and is a better passer and doesn’t force up nearly as many shots. That combined with his ability to pull up off the dribble makes him very dangerous. Byron Scott is a perfect coach to develop young guards.

It is hard for me to decide who we will pick because I really do not believe come draft day we will have the same picks. I expect a package of our 2nd first rounder and  maybe a 1 next year, or a trade down at 8 depending on who is available. Personally, I would love for the Cavs to get Tyler Zeller and Terrence Ross. Depending on a trade, and who comes out, Quincy Miller or even a William Buford at spot 33/38. Lineup would be:

    – Irving/Ross/Gee/Jamison (I believe we will try and sign him for 1-2 years at around 8 mil)/Andy

    – Sloan (possibility or a free agent)/Gibson or Buford/Casspi or Miller/Thompson/Zeller

It will be interesting to see how this breaks down.
