Carmelo

Reports say he probably won't resign with Denver. So I have a few questions I made up and answered myself, but I want to see your input as well.

Q1) Why would he turn down 21.6 million a year to play in Denver?
Their a solid team and could become great if some of their next draft picks turn out good.

Q2) If Denver trades him what team will he go to and for what players/picks?
New York is where he'd likely sign in my opinion, but I don't know if they have enough trade chips.

Q3) Will Carmelo resign with the team you said he'd go to in question #2?
I don't think he gets traded to the Knicks so he'll be a rental player for whoever gets him. Ultimately he ends up with Amare in NY in 2011-12.

Q4) Will Carmelo be the only person joining the team in Q3. I'm talking high profile players going to the team in Q3 in either 2010 or 2011? (Parker? Paul? Other?)

Q5) If Carmelo joins up with Amare in NY and they also get another high profile player like Chris Paul will they have enough to beat the Heat?
I'd love to see Paul vs Wade - Melo vs LeBron - Amare vs Bosh. It would come down to who has better role players in my opinion.

Q6) Who's looking forward to watching 2 Syracuse duos go big time? Flynn and Johnson and Carmelo and Rautins?
I know I am. I'm probably one of the few on this website looking forward to it.

Q1) Why would he turn down

Q1) Why would he turn down 21.6 million a year to play in Denver?

You have to be more than solid in the West to have a chance and also they are injury prone and I doubt Kenyon Martin is resigned

Q2) If Denver trades him what team will he go to and for what players/picks?
it depend on when Denver trades him because if they do it during the season than New York may be in trouble but if they do it after the season, New York can do the same kind of deals that Bosh and Lebron got from their sign and trades

Q3) Will Carmelo resign with the team you said he'd go to in question #2?
It depends on the team because I feel like Melo wants to go east coast primarily New York and possibly Washington

Q4) Will Carmelo be the only person joining the team in Q3.
If New York does not lose much to get Melo, they should be able to do a sign and trade for Parker. It may even be better for them to do it this season because they have a lot of expiring contracts

Q5) If Carmelo joins up with Amare in NY and they also get another high profile player like Chris Paul will they have enough to beat the Heat?
I think they Melo cancels out Lebron and Amare is better than Bosh so it it will be the Parker/Paul match up with Wade that will be key because New York already has young depth.
Q6) Who's looking forward to watching 2 Syracuse duos go big time? Flynn and Johnson and Carmelo and Rautins?
I don't see Melo and Rautins being much of duo but maybe Rautins gets some minutes to hit open 3 when Melo works in the post

first im just not buying hes

first im just not buying hes gonna leave or stay. not buying the reports because the reporters have shown this summer and in the past that they arent as reliable as they seemed

i see melo going to orlando if he does leave more then any other team because they have a better team then any of the other teams that want to get him...and its not even close talent wise.

i can also see why he wont resign if he decides not too and it has to do with the heat. after the heat signed there big three it seems melo and paul are started to not be happy with there teams and wants to join other stars. just liek a kid seeing his friend get a new bike and now the kid wants a new bike as well

Sheltwon... Melo cancels out

Sheltwon...

Melo cancels out LeBron? You realize that Melo isn't a strong defender right? and the fact that LeBron averages about 7 apg more than Melo.

Amar'e is not better than Bosh.

First off Denver has only ONE

First off Denver has only ONE young player with potential (lawson). Billups is 34, K-Mart is 32 and is declining QUICKLY and their HUGE acquisition this summer was AL HARRINGTON.
Second if he really wants to go to the Knicks they should wait a year and keep their pieces, because Melo, Amare, Gallo, Randolph, Felton, Chandler, Azibukee, Walker, Douglas, Turiaf, Mozgov is a MUCH better team than what they have in Denver. However if a trade must be done... two out of three of (Gallo, Randolph, Chandler) and one of (Douglas, Walker, Bukeee) and Eddy Curry's expiring should be enough if he is pushing his way out of town.

and people really don't seem

and people really don't seem to understand how cap space works...sure there are teams that arte MUCH better than Knicks (like the Orlando example), but what you fail to realize is that Orlando is WAYYYYYY over the cap next summer. So if they want to get Melo, a decent amount of talent has to go back to Denver. In New York's case (one of the few, and most teams that do have space are pretty bad), the Knicks don't have to give up ANYTHING to get Melo this summer. So while you may believe other teams have betetr rosters, Knicks can add Melo and preserve the yougn talent that other teams would definitely have to give up. Also even though Orlando is a much better team....they are a much worse trading partner. When you give up a superstar, you usually want good cheap young talent. We all know Howard is off limits, Rashard and Nelson would not be attractive to a team like the Nuggets (Contract, uneccesary position. That leaves guys like Bass, Pietrus and Redick.... and if a trade needs to be done the Knicks can do a lot better than that.

if the Knicks can get Melo

if the Knicks can get Melo next summer while keeping Randolph, Gallo, Chandler the Heat and Knicks would actually be a lot closer than people think...

Knicks:
Felton/Douglas
Chandler/Azibukee
Melo/Gallo
Amare/Randolph
Turiaf/Mozgov

with Turiaf starting and Amare playing 15-20 minutes at center and sliding Gallo or Randolph in at PF.

Heat:
Chalmers/Arroyo
Wade/Miller
Lebron
Bosh/Haslem
Big Z/Anthony

The Knicks would win the PG, C and pretty much tie PF starters
Heat would win SG AND SF (not by much)

The bench would be heavily in Knicks favor: (Douglas, Walker, Bukee, Fields, Gallo, Randolph, Mozgov) vs. (Arroyo, Miller, Pittman, Varnado, Haslem, Anthony)

Q1) Why would he turn down

Q1) Why would he turn down 21.6 million a year to play in Denver?

In my opinion, the Nuggets have "peaked", I dont see them getting any better and their just not as good as the Lakers. The trend nowadays is to join forces with another superstar, and if the Heat wins the championship this year, this will influence Carmelo's decision and perhaps do the same as Lebron, which is play with another superstar or two.

Q2) If Denver trades him what team will he go to and for what players/picks?

1st of all Denver will not trade Carmelo during the season, so lets throw that out the window. A sign and trade in the offseason? Possibly. But he will not be traded during the season.

Q3) Will Carmelo resign with the team you said he'd go to in question #2?

Depending how teams do this season, will play a factor on Carmelo's decision. Its almost impossible to predict a team that Carmelo will go to. No one thought Lebron would ever be in a Heat uniform last season.

...the rest of your questions are too "hypothetical"

you really dont think Orlando

you really dont think Orlando would find away to get melo?..its not that hard when you can trade players AND draft picks on top of back loading a deal AND melo taking less money so the team can sign him( example being wade, bosh and lebron) and that's not even mentioning making a 3 or 4team trade. if you dont have draft picks then that hurts you're team very severely

I don't see anyone saying "

I don't see anyone saying " Damn, I would love VC's contract and Gortat" Orlando ( to me) doesn't have all these trade pieces everyone sells. I just don't see it.

I think CP3 is a fool to think adding Trevor Ariza was a big move.

If some team traded for Carmelo, I think Houston and Detroit would have the pieces to do it.

You are aware that Orlando is

You are aware that Orlando is WAYYY over the cap right? no paycut (other than the MLE) can get Melo to just sign. Draft picks form an Orlando team that will have Jameer, Melo, Lewis and Howard in their starting line up are going be in the 26-30 range.... so I can't imagine how many 28th picks (can be easily purchased and often considered worse than early 30s because of guaranteed contract) would be required in order to interest the nuggets. As good as that Orlando team is there is no trade anywhere near realistic for the nuggets to take. I highly doubt a combination of Gortat, Bass, Reddick and Pietrus is anywhere near the best the Magic can do. Its obvious Melo would not be opposed to a trade to NY, so if NY offers Gallo and Chandler (cost about 6 mill together) and an expiring, the pieces orlando has stand no chance.

Seriously how is Amare gonna

Seriously how is Amare gonna torch Bosh? Amare might be better slightly offensivly but Bosh has the edge in rebounding, and defense, so ill take him.

You can put out your arguement that Amares better but your an idiot if you think hes gonna torch Bosh.

yep and ive watched the nba

yep and ive watched the nba for years and have seen teams who were over the cap one year end up getting a allstar the next

ive seen many trades for star end up being uneven as far as players are concern but teams make it anyway because of draft picks

seen teams take players just because they have a big expiring contract

im not sure if you know this but other teams dont vaule chandler like the knicks do..they try trading him....no one wanted him

just because a team hass cap space doesnt mean they can get a player, oh yeah another thing....the nets have the cap space and a young roster to get melo while also making a move to brooklyn

last but not least if you think teams wont be doing whatever it takes to get a player like melo then you must not have been watching nba basketball

Bosh is too soft IMO, plus

Bosh is too soft IMO, plus when you consider rebounding you have to look at the whole front court. Bosh has Andrea Bargniani and Amare had real rebounders like Amundson and Lopez in the front court. Thats the same way Lee padded his stas, with Harrington being the 2nd biggest threat for rebounds. And I wouldn't say Bosh has the advantage in defense either, he was the anchor in one of the worst defensive teams per pace the NBA has seen in a very long time.

another thing...every year

another thing...every year teams are saying "id love this guys expiring contract"

as far as the hornets..ariza is a nice thirs option behind allstar paul and allstar talent west. like i said in other post people seem to have short term memory and forget the hornets where a very good/playoff team before injuries hit them including cp3's

the Magic have ZERO tradeable

the Magic have ZERO tradeable assets. The Nets are...well....the Nets, if you think the Nets matter you must not be from the east coast. Everyone wanted Lebron too, but top 10 guys in the NBA don't just get traded. When you say stars get traded for very uneven value, you are referring to All-Stars, not one of the best players in the game. The most lopsided trade modern day for a top player was tmac for Franchise (top 3 PG at the time) and mobley (almost all star) and the magic gm received death threats.

as far as bosh and

as far as bosh and amare...neither are good defenders....and amare is a bad rebounder considering how athletic he is theres no excuses for that..lopez and amundson arent rebounders that take rebounds from other people

l.admusdon 4reb per game....lopez..5

barani-6reb per turkalu-4.6..

no excuse for amare getting less then 10reb a game

stats don't always tell the

stats don't always tell the truth, how many minutes did bargniani play and how many minutes did lopez play??
Heres my take...if i need a role player to go along with my lebron james or wade (or both) i take bosh. if have a choice of just one of the two to add to my non all star roster...give me amare. Amare is more of a leader and winner, bosh is more solid and less of a risk.

you also arent taking into

you also arent taking into account that teams do three way and four way trades and how vaulable draft picks are to teams

And why i mention the nets you ask?..because nba players have said there move to brooklyn is gonna make them a destination that they will seriously think about

IF they get Melo, it will be

IF they get Melo, it will be if they just sign him in the summer, i doubt nuggets settle for what knicks have to offer either. Its clear that orlando is 4398454575279 times better as a team... but i also think its pretty clear that knicks have better trade chips IF a trade HAD to be done. Gallo and Randolph alone are very good cheap prospects, along with throw ins Chandler, Douglas, Walker, Bukee etc, the Nuggets can get 2-3 cheap players that can grow with the organization.

truth is if a trade is made

truth is if a trade is made neither the knicks or magic offer the best pieces. A team like the Rockets or Mavs can put together better packages. The problem with trading for Melo is the chance that he leaves in the summer anyways, so teams have to be absolutely certain he wants to be there before they trade the farm for him.

i wouldnt bet that he goes to

i wouldnt bet that he goes to orlando but i wouldnt bet against it either. anyone that has watched nba basketball and offseason knows that nothing is impossible. also knicks fans think there young players are more attractive then the rest of the leauge(they talked about this on nbatv and espn not to long ago) but other teams arent high on chandler nor walker nor douglas like knick fans are...most dont know that all those players were offerred in trades and not ONE team wanted them. there are too many players out there who can do what walker, douglass, and chandler can do.

you dont get equal vaule for

you dont get equal vaule for melo reguardless...i cant remember the last tiem a star got traded for equal value and thats why draft picks are very important as well as expiring contracts. and as the season goes on other teams will have players they can trade because they will come out of no where and become good players

also just like i said miami was a dark horse for lebron(in which many on here laughed) chicago is a dark horse for melo with there young players and draft picks

I didn't mention any of those

I didn't mention any of those 3 as the centerpiece though, I think we can both agree Gallo and Randolph are intriguing prospects. As for Chandler, I personally think he is better than people give him credit for, he started the season slowly because of an injury but the last 41 games of the season averaged 16.5 and 6 shooting 52%. Douglas is a solid back up guard who plays good defense and is an effective shooter, not much to brag about but a nice piece to have on a team, as for walker his value is very low right now but the guy does have potential (he also lost 25 pounds) so for 800k he is also a nice piece to have. I don't see where not one team wants Chandler, the only tem that was rumored to be not interested is the Blazers for Rudy and they are STACKED at the the guard/sf positions and have zero need for chandler, and instead need a big man.

the knicks offered chandler

the knicks offered chandler to a couple of teams who all turned them down. other teams arent as high on chandler as knicks fans, thats no secret. anthony rqandolph only becomes interesing if he playes well;(not just scoring because the knicks offense is built for just about any player to score) and i didnt mention galloa because he is one player that teams would be interested in.

stars liek melo get traded just like other players. if he doesnt sign that extension before the trade dead line he will be gone. the nuggest have already made it clear they arent gonna just let him walk away like cleveland did with lebron.

there have been players better then melo who have been traded in nba history

Melo is a below average

Melo is a below average defender. Lebron is a average defender who uses his size well because his lateral quickness is not that good but because of hype.

Melo is a scorer and will be hard for Lebron to guard so trying to compare who is a more versatile player means nothing when matched up Melo would cancel out Lebron. Points and rebound wise Melo could possibly have the age but Lebron would get his assist but New York would never run their offense through Melo.

Amare would crush Bosh. Are you people serious? I don't care that Bosh plays better defense even though he is not big enough to bang and Amare is but does not want to but still Amare would get whatever shot he wanted. Bosh would get his point but Amare woulds till dominate plus Amare can play defense and rebound when he wants to which happens sometimes in big game but not so much in others.

Don't confuse ability with a person not wanting to do something consistently.

Also people that keep bringing up sign and trade. Do you not realize what Bosh and Lebron got their team in a sign and trade. If you are a free agent the team getting the player does not have to give up much. Denver would be lucky to get anything in a sign and trade not if Denver trades in this season which I doubt happens then they can demand more.

Who came up with Orlando

Who came up with Orlando having a shot at Mello.
Late draft picks and bad contracts don't exactly help.
Why would Denver want Nelson when they have Billups and Lawson.
Outside of Gortat what chips do they have to trade with.
