Anyone else think both of these guys are intriguing prospects? First with Levert, the biggest red flag is his injuries. Without injuries, Levert definitely goes first round and maybe the lottery (albeit in a weak draft). The other big concern is his weight, he is rail thin. But he is a very well rounded offensive player. He can dribble, and when you combine that with his quick first step, if he ever filled out a little bit he would be dynamic at getting in the lane and drawing contact. Combine that with his passing and shooting abilities and I think he could be a lethal offensive player. Defensively he’s 6-7 with 6-10 arms and good lateral quickness. While I don’t think of him as a high end defensive player now, with good coaching and more weight he could be a very good defensive player. So overall, I think if he put on weight and stayed healthy, his upside is an all-star. But I am not sure what the likelihood is that he puts on 15-20 pounds AND stays healthy.

Then you’ve got Pat McCaw. His big concern, once again, is his weight. Offensively, he is a very well-rounded player like Levert. He has a good feel for the game; his ball-handling is inconsistent but I believe with reps he’ll develop a much better handle. Since he has a very quick first step he hasn’t needed the tightest handle but in the NBA he will. He can shoot the ball and has a smooth shooting motion. He is known as a gamer and the kind of guy that not only wants the ball in his hands but has the confidence needed to hit big shots. Defensively, he’s just like levert, 6-7 with 6-10 arms. He has good lateral quickness and good instincts to go for steals. Unlike Levert though, he has good defensive fundamentals and with 20 more pounds, he could be a very good defensive player in the NBA. Like Levert, I think his upside is a guy who can make the all-star team. But what is the likelihood that McCaw puts on 20-25 pounds without losing any quickness?

Overall, I think both of these guys are intriguing 2 guard prospects. Buddy Hield probably has a higher ceiling than both of these guys, since he has an NBA body, jumper and decent athleticism. However, I think both of these guys have higher upside than Hield or Jamal Murray due to their ability to contribute offensively without the ball in their hands and be very good defensive players. I’m not that high on Murray (Average ball-handling + below average athleticism = will have trouble creating in the NBA) so I could see either of these guys being better than him.

I’d take Patrick McCaw over Levert because of the aforementioned injury history and concern that goes along with that. Solid job on the break down of those two players. However, I don’t know about Hield having the highest ceiling of those three. Clearly Hield is the better player now and has the higher floor, but I don’t see him getting much better. Hield’s production and safeness makes him the top 8 pick that he will be, but McCaw may have the higher ceiling.

When talking about Hield I meant highest floor but typed out highest ceiling instead

Loved Caris as a sophmore. Then the injuries began. I like Mccaw as a wing defender, good length.  Let New Orleans or Sacramento sign Murray and Hield, I would rather have a 3 and D guy in Mccaw with upside.

Would love for the Sixers to take a chance on LeVert if he’s there with their 3rd pick.

Levert is too risky for me. Very late second round maybe…

His wingspan, which was rumored to be 7′, also only came in at 6’10"

LeVert has the ability to do everything on the court except jump high. He played a lot of PG, though he’s a SG/SF, he’s got a good wingspan, he can always get to the basket, his lateral speed is incredible, he has decent handle, lots of defensive upside, gets rebounds, can play unselfish, and hits 3’s at a good clip. A lot to like. He’d easily be a lottery pick if not for injuries. Instead, maybe someone gets a nice deal later.

McCaw and Levert are both guys the Clippers should target with thier late 1st and early second round picks. They could end up being very good picks with a core of Paul, Griffin and Jordan. If they could bring in one of or both of these guys they could under the radar be one of the big winners of this draft. Those two could end up formimg a rookie duo of wings for LA similar to Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels back in the day for the Mavs.

Mccaw slipping to second round is very strange to me, what has there not to like? As a prospect he similar to that Australian kid who Utah drafted top 5, only better shooting and steadiness on defense…

Dude had a good summer league and pre-season. Jerry West is great and he’s in a great spot in GS to be the steal of the second round.
