     PG Steve Nash

    SG Kobe Brtant

    SF Wesley Johnson (probably)

    PF Carlos Boozer

    C Jordan Hill

My question is: is the B-team possibly better? I feel like the best the A team can do on defense is to throw a shoe at the other team’s offense and hope it knocks the ball out of their hands. b Team:

    PG Jeremy Lin

    SG Xavier Henrey

    SF Nick Young

    PF Julius Randle

    C Ed Davis

I just hope Scott gives him consistent minutes. I truly feel he could be a 10-10 guy if given the opportunity. I think he and Randle will compliment each other well.

Not a comment on which is better but does anyone else think this lakers team is horribly put together?

This lakers team looks like it would be beast in 2k, but struggle to mesh in real life.

So many guys who they have taken a chance on or are other teams scraps – Davis, Young, Henry, Johnson, Lin?(borderline)

then you have ages stars in Kobe, Nash and Boozer.

It is like they have failed to do the usual Laker thing and get another star, so resulted in getting mediocre players other teams do not want.

I drafted Lin for a fantasy team, his numbers will certainly depend on the health and minutes played of Nash.

For which team would win, the starters probably get there because of the big edge at shooting guard.  Boozer versus Randle, not a lot of blocks there, both would score plenty.  Davis may be better than Hill, especially for defending.  Lin and Nash, similar players with their outside shooting but Nash, when healthy, is a better passer.  W Johnson can defend and might contain Swaggy P, although he could go on a hot streak and shoot the bench team to a win.

Another question, taking the five starters and adding three players, what is their ideal eight-man rotation?

If this were the case with Nash and Boozer starting it would be good news in the sense that they are obviously trying to keep their top 5 pick.

In all seriousness this is a weird move by him to announce this before training camp has even started.  I have no doubt that both Randle and Lin will be getting the majority of the minutes AND OR starting.

But I definitely wouldn’t be mad if out of this year I got a healthy Kobe, a lot of Randle and a top 5 pick.  Pair that with another first round pick coming from the Rockets and I think that is about the best season we could ask for.

      Here’s a link to the article: http://www.lakersnation.com/lakers-news-byron-scott-shares-potential-starting-lineup/2014/09/10/

He doesnt really announce anything. he very specifically says that he will use training camp to figure out the starting lineup and the spots are up for grabs. He simply says that he expects this to be the staring lineup to begin training camp. But you being the most negative laker fan in the history of laker fans, it doesnt surprise me you immediately jump to negative conclusions.

Nothing I said was overly negative.  I forget I can’t talk about my team in an objective manner in regards to things I would like to see them accomplish next year… such as… Kobe being healthy, Randle playing a lot of minutes, and the Lakers holding on to their top 5 pick… Geeeeze what a negative Laker fan I am.

You on the other hand are the trolliest of trolly Laker fans, and the cliche reason why everybody else hates us.  You’re still holding on to the wet dream of yours where Kobe rides off into the sunset on a unicorn with 6 rings, one for each finger and one for the horn.

Just because I am a realistic Laker fan with what I want out of the season doesn’t make me any more or less of a fan than you.  You always neglect this.

I too can’t imagine not giving Lin and Randle all the minutes they can handle, regardless of who starts. However, if those two can get there minutes and Kobe is able to move his legs, they’ll be out of contention for keeping the top 5 pick.

That draft pick IS the best thing they could achieve. Making it to playoffs (unlikely) would be a consolation. They should hope they change the lottery rules this year, despite the Sixers’ objections. That would help their odds.

Does anyone believe he will be healthy enough to contribute?  I have next to no confidence that he will and see Lin getting much more run than Nash this year.

     I would start:

    Jeremy Lin

    Kobe

    Wes Johnson

    Julius Randle

    Jordan Hill

    Bench:

    Steve Nash

    Nick Young –6th man scorer

    Xavier Henry

    Carlos Boozer

Ed Davis — not a center

    The team has some pieces.

They are up there among teams I want to see.  Kobe’s return, Nash coming back, and then rookie Julius Randle.  LA Lin could be fun to watch, too.

The Lakers could well go for experience and need to fill the gaps left by Pau Gasol and Jodie Meeks. A lot depends how much form Kobe can find, he only played a few games last year and recently turned 36 years old but if his old fire is there then he is still an elite player. The Lakers aren’t realistically in contention, Kobe has no major running mate so he could be shooting for fun next season.

Steve Nash turns 41 next season in what is likely to be his swansong and like Jeremy Lin is on an expiring deal, I wonder if the Lakers might try to pull some sort of trade to try and get Kobe another good running mate. But realistically they probably need to start planning post Kobe and that would involve getting Julius Randle developed into the roster and on court sooner rather than later.

I must admit that a bench of Young, Lin, Randle and Davis does give good depth and a lot of potential scoring.

Realistically this season the Lakers have to try and do as well as they can as they are paying Kobe mega money and so lessen the value of the pick which goes to Phoenix and then really start planning long term.
