surveParticipantThis may have been discussed here already but I want to get you guys opinion on the Bulls decision to take Jimmy Butler over Tyler Honeycutt. Which direction would you have gone? Why do you think the Bulls passed on Honeycutt?

providencefriars1ParticipantI think they passed on Honeycutt because Butler is a better defender and is more NBA ready than Honeycutt. Also Butler is a true small forward and i’ve only seen Honeycutt listed as a SG/SF.

JoeWolf1Butler is pretty mature for a college player and a guy who can come in and relieve Loul Deng right away and play some 2 as well. They got a long term guy with some upside in Mirotic and I think they wanted a guy who can make an impact. Butler also fits well in their system because he can come in and guard the 2 and 3 position and although he isn’t regarded as a big time offensive player, he is super effeciant and thats what a team like Chicago needs for a guy coming off the bench. He’ll play good defense hit open shots and although he may not have the upside a lot of people feel Honeycutt has he could definately be a starting caliber player in the league.
I thought drafting Butler was a good decision for Chicago.

surveParticipantok, good views, I was just wondering because it seems like some Bulls fans were kind of POed by them passing over Honeycutt.

laarethekingsParticipantButler all the way… First he plays great D, which you know you have to do being a Bull now a days. Second his life stroy, the guy didn’t give up or doesn’t give up. People like this are great for a locker room. It’s what makes a team a team… And we all know what playing like a team can get you… look at Dallas.

FritzParticipantButler is the reason the Bulls didn’t trade of for Marshon Brooks. Butler destroyed Brooks in the workout in Chicago. Made Brooks look soft and he just out played him during workouts. I think Butler was the right choice hes very coachable and will be a hard worker in the league.
