Glad to see they are working on this.  It is long over due.  There is no plan B, so not sure why the Bulls are dragging their feet, other than $.

 Tom Thibodeau really deserves a good extension… one of the best coaches in the league! They have done wonders without DRose in the regular season (tough to win a playoff series without Rose AND Noah), it will be interesting to see if the Bulls keep this group together and try to do it with the team they got still…

Jerry Reinsdorf is a tough negotiator and won’t willingly fork over the type of $$$ Thibs wants. That’s just the way he is. Let’s just hope it doesn’t get ugly, which can happen when you’re dealing with Reinsdorf.

According to the article back in 2010 on ESPN the original deal was for 2 years at $6.5M with a team option for the third year.  My guess he is "only" making about $3.5M-$4M on this third year.  Which is a great value for the Bulls.  A major increase is forthcoming (and deserved).

 With D-Rose being out, we will really see what Coach Thibs can do but the Bulls need to tie him up long term as otherwise the other big teams will be sniffing around him. His defensive set ups alone mean he is the sort of coach considered likely to win titles and with some other coaches maybe nearing retirement or not working out, he’d be hugely sought after.

 Extend him asap, he is a great coach and does well with the talent he has, with D Rose, this is the best regular season team in the NBA, without him, they still will make a run and Tibbs gets to prove his coaching prowless.
