Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantIt’s early in the season, but how good is he really? I don’t watch UCLA games, but I know he had some okay games last year, when him and Zach LaVine got to start. He’s started this year off averaging 21 points and 10.6 assists, shooting 100% from the line on 12 shots, and 50% from three on 22 shots and 56% from the field on 36 shots. I mean they’re playing cupcakes right now but he played some good games in pac 12 play last year as a freshman. He’s a coaches son playing point guard on the floor. Whats his ceiling? What’s a comparison?

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantI see a lot of Jose claderon in his game the way he controls the tempo reminds me when Jose played for the raptors. Both are 6’3 and great shooters who actually use screens well to get where they want to on the floor where they can find the open man with ease or shot. I really like this kids game and this UCLA team is fun to watch

ropeParticipantHis ceiling? Probably a little lower than his dad. Potentially a good to great college player with a cup of coffee in the NBA.

llperezI’ve watched all 3 ucla games so far and He’s been the Bruins best/most important player thus far. He has slammed the door shut on all the he’s getting preferential treatment from his dad talk. I still think he is a 4 year player and don’t know if he’s nba material or not, need to see him vs better comp. his skill hitting jumpers off the dribble and little scoop shots in the paint is coming along nicely.

juves4783Participanti think he can be a luke ridnour type journey man. not a great athlete, but heady point guard that can shoot the rock. ray mccallum (another coach’s son) is also a fair comparison.

KDThunder35ParticipantThe kid knows how to play the game. He always seems to make the correct pass and sets his teammates up for the best shot they can possibly get. Also what impressed me with Bryce last year was his lateral footspeed on defense. Pac10 guards are usually pretty quick and he kept pace and stayed in front of his man while applying 3/4 court pressure.
If he can become a very good shooter he can be effective as a Luke Ridnour type as juves4783 said. He isn’t quick enough with the ball in his hands to get by NBA calibur point guards alone. If he can consistently shoot well it will buy him more space to get in the lane ala Steve Nash type (NOT saying he is Nash, but Nash’s jumper and tight handle allowed him to get by defenders). If he can get in the lane in the NBA he could average 5+ assists just by making the correct pass if he is given court time.

Jco4ParticipantYeah as a UCLA fan I think a Ridnour comparison is apt. People seem to forget Ridnour was a solid starter for the Sonics before they became OKC. As for Alford I don’t see him being a superstar or even a star at the next level but as a guy who can hold his own on defense whilst offensively he could get you 10ppg, 5apg plus a steal or two.
