In early prep mode for fantasy season and haven’t really looked at revised rosters since free agency. A couple things really jump out at me.

    1) Memphis’ Roster — For a team that relies on their half court offense, they got exposed in the playoffs. They still can’t shoot!!! They still lack serious athleticsm which matters in today’s NBA. There are always a few surprises every season — I wouldn’t be surprised  if Memphis falls out of playoff contention early and chooses to go the rebuild route. This team isn’t built for the future, and it really isn’t built for the present either.

    2) OKC — I don’t remember exactly what their roster looked like when they made the finals a few years ago, but if this team stays healthy, I think its the most well rounded roster in the league. Anything can happen come playoff time — this could be their year. Waiters abjlity to buy in to some sort of team concept is the X-factor

    3) Sacramento — This roster looks different from last year — I like it. I’m curious to see if they can stay healthy and actually make a playoff push

    4) I feel like the teams that had picks 1-5 in the lottery this year will all have better records than they did last year. I’m not sure that Minnesota, even with all their talent, is ready for a playoff push in the west.

    5) I’ve heard a lot of people saying that the Blazers are the worst team in the league right now. Take a look at the Nets roster. I can’t find a team in the league that the Nets can beat right now. They are lacking depth and talent. I expect them to have a top 4 pick next year.

Hope you’re all enjoying your summer, can’t wait for the season

dont agree about the grizz. They were looking good in playoffs. They need conley healthy and to get some better offensive punch from the wing positions especially since vince carter officaly became a carcass last season. I dont think anybody would pick them to win it all, but they are far from falling out of the playoffs and should just keep chugging along and hoping they get some contributions from role players that help push them over the top however unlikely.

as for worst team, its still the sixers in my book. I expect to jahlil to really struggle with efficency and probably shoot in the low 40’s I like him long term, but he misses lots of chip shots around rim and needs some time.

as for blazers vs nets, my money would be on blazers to finsh with worse record between the two. Lopez and young is a solid big duo so at least they ahve that for themselves. The blazers have lillard gunning away from three and a bunch of guys who should be coming off the bench now starting. I do like meyers leonard but not as the maybe the teams second best guy.

Offensive punch from which Grizzlies wings? None of them are reliable from the perimeter. If they continue to play through their bigs, which of course they will, they have to have at least one reliable knock down shooter. Which wing are you comfortable with taking a shot in a must make situation if either big gets doubled?

jordan adams should get more of an opportunity. Matt barnes has been inconsistent but when hes making shots hes solid. Courtney lee can hit from mid range. Jeff green underperformed but has talent. None of these guys are very impressive which is why i said they need to hope for more offensive punch, not that they will get it. I just dont think they are falling off the earth and need to rebuild. The foundation inside and the overall defense and toughness are there. Conley being hurt really impacted their ability to compete last year.

You hit the nail on the head when you said that none of them are very impressive. I think there is a real chance that they could miss the playoffs. The west is too tough to not make significant off season moves when you get ousted in the first round. I forgot Conley was hurt — he’s a good pg, but a knock down shooter is what they need. Even if they make the playoffs, they still are no better now than they were last year. If you aren’t getting better, you’re gettting worse!!

They weren’t ousted in first round, they lost in second round to the Warriors and we’re pretty competitive tied 2-2 after four games.

It dosent matter just cause you cant shoot fairly well as a TEAM dosent = Loses. Thats not their style of play. They have 1 of the best, if not the Best post play in the NBA. They Rely on their Grit, Grind and Toughness. I bet the grizzles wouldnt mind adding a shooter like Reddick or Korver but countering that With Tony Allen is not that bad either. As long as The grizzles have a core Of Z-Bo, Gasol, Jeff Green and Mike Conley they will still compete and be one of the the teams no one wants to play in the playoffs

I agree the Nets will still be better than the Blazers, but the Blazers do have some talent.  Ed Davis and Al Faruq are both coming off of strong seasons (although in lesser roles) and guys like CJ McCollum, Noah Vonleh, and Mo Harkless are all talented and motivated to prove themselves in the league and Gerald Henderson, Chris Kaman, and Mason Plumlee are respectable players.  This team will probably still have a top 5 worst record but they’ll be entertaining

I thank the OP for saying the celtics might get a top 4 pick this coming year The Nets did grab a couple bargains this offseason(My favorites are Thomas Robinson and Shane Larkin), but aside from those pieces and Lopez, Johnson, and Young the Nets are pretty bare. Brook Lopez is a nice piece, but he is one fragile bigman. If he or any of their other top players get injured they could compete for the dirt cup next year this is especially true for Joe Johnson because he’s getting older and if he were to suffer a bad injury the Nets waste 25 million and probably field a starting backourt of Jarret Jack and either Markel Brown or a rookie RHJ or maybe Larkin. As a fan of the(you guessed right) Boston Celtics I would love to see the Nets finish in the bottom four and win the lottery for their division rivals.

I like the Blazers now because they got a local hero in Noah Vonleh. He’s a good piece meyers leonard joined the 50 40 90 club and he’s 7’1" a chance at a bigger role could help him a lot. They still have Lillard who is still really good and Mason Plumlee is good too. The only Reason I take the Blazers above the Nets is because their best few players are better than the Nets best few players. neither team has a good bench so they are as strong as their best parts.

mjbrown dude. I gonna look on the positive side and say u momentarily forgot that Memphis made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs this year. On top of that they gave the warriors their toughest challenge this post season, ((even though Cleveland’s 2 & 3 best scorers missed the finals( kyrie played game 1 which was lost due to his injury) still reality is reality)). On top of that tony Allen and mike Conley had injury issues throughout the series. I thought they shoulder have added a best perimeter scorer than Barnes I will say that, but when he gets hot from 3 those games will most likely be wins for the grizz.

Also do you remember the teams who have been in the playoffs these past couple seasons? Spurs, mavs, warriors, rockets, clippers, thunder will be back, mavs, my team but zaza and and our #2& 3 guys starting off the season with injuries doesn’t look good coming from a true mavs fan, and oh yeah the grizz. Looking at the west the blazers are not making it barring some miracle trade. Mavs might miss it. That leaves 2 spots for the pelicans, kings, & suns to compete for.

Grizz might miss the playoffs, yeah a team that has one of the best rosters in the league when healthy, even with inconsistent perimeter shooting, hah!. And brooklyn might have a bottom 4 record? Didn’t they make the playoffs this past year with almost the exact same roster? I mean Mirza left but he missed the 2nd have off the season  anyway, & i mean dwill left but I don’t think the player he has become warrants a team losing his presence and being projected as having one of the 4 worst records in the league this year.
