I thought I read on ESPN’s rumor control that Chandler got permission to leave his China team, and was awaiting for FIBA to clear him to join the NBA. I read that he’d be back possibly within a week or 2.

Brooks and Chadler are the only 2 players left to sign from China.

    Where do they go?

The Celtics could really use Chanlder but I think that he is restricted so they cant offer him enough money for the Nuggets to not match..

Brooks would fit great with the Lakers but do you think they could sign him and even if they could, would they take a chance on him?? He would be a spark plug off the bench and a PG, which is what they need.  He could also fit with the Thunder.. They lost Maynor and have been playing a rookie some big minutes.. With Thabo hurt for the next month, they could use another guard..

    Any ideas??

Also, has anyone heard anything about either of them lately?

Chandler is restricted by the Nuggets, with Danilo Injured I wouldn’t expect them to let it go.

Each of their teams are in the playoffs, and JR’s team was not, which is why he is back.

Chandler will most likely to my knowlege sign a one year deal making him an unrestricted Free Agent this upcoming Summer, unless they work out a multi-year deal. I think that Chandler will be a huge boost if he can be back within the next week and a half, considering that Galinari will be out for another 3-4 weeks. Chandler is a guy that’ll get you 15 a game, he’s a knock down shooter, and can penetrate. He can rebound well, and as we saw last year, he fits in perfectly with the Nuggets. He also compliments Gallinari well, and If they can put Lawson, Chandler, Gallo, Harrington, and Nene, with Miller, Aflalo, Moszgov, Fernandez, Birdman, and Brewer, plus Koufus who has 11 and 8 against OKC right now, that would make them the deepest team in hte playoffs. If the Nuggets can find a rotation and rythem with Chandler and Galinari back in, and remember, Nene has missed time also this season, so if they can get all of their starters back, and Lawson-Galinari-Chandler-Nene can all be co-first options and their bench continues to play the way it has, I’d be really scared to play them. At this rate they’d be two deep at every position and three deep at the guard spots. Combined with their altitude advantage, the grueling schedule, and that the only high octane offenses in the running are SA, OKC and LAC(Minny also), than I like their chances against older and slower teams, and they are very well coached.

As for Brooks, I expect the Suns to sign him also, unless say a team like the Lakers offers a full MLE that the Suns don’t want to match, than possibly, but remember, they traded Dragic for him, whom they regarded very highly, so I don’t think they’ll just let Brooks walk, so I think he’ll play out the season with them unless someone offers crazy money hoping for 09-10 Brooks, not 10-11 Brooks. He was really upset after not getting his extension, but he is a really good player, and I hope he finds a starting job somewhere next season, but he did say that he really loved it in China.

I’d like to see Brooks at the Lakers, they need some youth and energy at the PG spot, and he’s a great shooter, which means he can really mesh well with Kobe. Is he unrestricted? If so, he might take less money for a chance to contribute in a place like LA.

Suns have his rights. I am not sure that they are making it a priority to sign him or match whatever he gets, but the Lakers should wish they get Brooks. His quickness is incredibly elite and he is an elite scoring PG. I think Portland desperately wants to sign him, though there is a Felton in the way of that happening.

I hate the OKC possibility for AB. If they could not use Nate Robinson, Brooks will hopefully skip these guys. Unless they finally want to move Russell to the 2, I see little reason they sign AB to play him minor minutes. Thanks for putting that one in my head, 8th.

Truthfully, he is too young in his career to start ring chasing. As much as I love winning, I do not know if I would sacrifice the type of money AB is worth to try and win a ring. He is 5’11 (probably less) and 165, he won’t last forever. Remember, Kyle Lowry got signed to a 6 mill per year deal when he was Brooks’ back-up. I guess Brooks might sign a one year deal, who knows, but I think he would like some security.

As far as Brooks and Chandler, I think they are both playing out the play-offs in China. Have heard they are coming back in March. Either way, if both of them ended up being back on Phoenix and Denver respectively, would not be surprised. Brooks was doing an awesome job for them as a spark plug last season and the Nuggets can use Chandler, now. If he were around, would have been a lot more difficult for Kevin Durant to carve them up tonight.

It would make sense for Phoenix to sign him or sign and trade him.  Nash is getting older so i am sure when they made that trade with Houston, they have Brooks in their long term plans.
