GrandmamaParticipantJohn Canzano reports in the Oregonian that Brandon Roy is almost assured to be waived by the Blazers via amnesty.
"Brandon’s out," a league executive told Canzano. "Don’t know the exact details, but everyone around the league knows it’s way, way done." Multiple teams would be interested in adding Roy once he hits waivers, but details are uncertain until the new CBA is in place and teams are allowed to openly discuss players. Stay tuned.0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/28/2011 - 5:16pm #610094
IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t know where he’ll land, but it’s sad… He did so much for the Blazers and was such a phenomenal young player.
Brandon Roy was my favorite player in the league once and inside, I hope he defies the odds and comes back strong. However, I know it’s impossible though. He’s done.

inukawaii8Participanti dont think brandon roy is done at all. he may not be the player he once was, but he is still capable of being a 15 pt 3 rbd 4 ast type of guy as a starter for many teams. he can also be a double figure scorer as a sixth man for some other good teams. wherever he goes, brandon roy will bring the winning attitude and leadership to the team.

r377ParticipantMaybe sixers or pacers go after him. He would provide good experience for the playoffs….

Stevenoh and for the guys thinking roy is done/should reitre. you guys are crazy. grant hill had the same exact thing, and hes playing now… doing fine. and roy is was younger when he got his surgeries then when grant did. meaning he’ll heal faster, and stronger. and you guys are probably the same guys that said dejuan blair could never play in the NBA cause of his achilles.

IndianaBasketballParticipantGrant Hill had a completely different injury than Brandon Roy…
I’d show you a MRI picture of what Roy’s knees look like, but it’s too gruesome… He has no meniscus in either knee… He’s missing both the lateral and the medial. That means he’s bone on bone. And without a mensicus, you’re grinding your articular cartilage… Gives me the chills just thinking about it.

Lotto StudParticipantThe Bulls would be a nice compliment for DRose, but me being me, I would love to see him in the same backcourt with DWill.

Lotto StudParticipantNot familiar at all with this Amnesty Clause, but who would we have to give up to obtain Roy in Jersey?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/28/2011 - 6:24pm #610113
JaeEvolutionParticipantDamn Memphis Tyga where you been? Amnesty allows a team to shed one players salary from their cap and puts him on a waive-bidding list to the highest bidder under the cap, so if he does get amnestied and the Nets pay up the most they can get him while giving up a small amount of money, you wouldn’t have to give up anyone.

Stevenoh, whoops. sorry doc! jk, but they both had knee injuries… same concept. i didnt mean they had the same exact injury.. and if i did, i take it back.

frogmanParticipantThe Blazers must be the unluckiest franchise in the NBA. Bill Walton’s injury, passing on Michael Jordan (might not be luck), Oden’s injuries and now Roy’s injuries. Think I’d rather be drafted by the Clippers.

aamir543Participant^ Dude, Hill had ankle injuries, lol.
The way the amnesty works (as detatiled in the 8th deadly sin’s post earlier today) is that all the teams that are under the cap have the opportunity to bid on Roy, and whoever bids the highest, gets him, and however much that is that is how much of his 15 million dollar contract that the team has to pay, and the Blazers pay him the rest.

Scottoant93ParticipantIf the nets get roy that would be awesome we would have dwill, broy, brooks, hopefully a good pf signing, lopez and e

OhCanada-ParticipantRoy has no cartilage in his knees. He will always be injured/injury prone. Having a player in and out of the starting lineup like that can really mess up the teams chemistry. I dont think I would necassarily invest much in Roy.

fastdanParticipantHis offense would probably be good for a lot of teams…but expect him to miss 1/3 of the season and not be able to defend anymore..

JunkYardDogParticipantthere’s some rumour about GS making a run at him… but I don’t get it.
They already have the starters (curry, ellis, wright) and they have thompson and williams.
They should chase a vet’pg able to teach some tricky thinks to curry and a starting center (NENE).

nateoak10ParticipantAs a 6th man,
Williams is a FA and unlikely to be brought back, Wright is a SF and Klay likely wont be counted on much (I personally am not confident in that pick)

M-DYMESParticipantMinny would be a great fit.
They need a legit SG, a scorer, and a leader. Roy brings all of the above.
In addition the frigid temperatures of Minnesota winters will keep Roy’s knee seemingly on ice automatically.

Lotto StudParticipantDoes anyone not remember his performance in Game 4 vs the Mavs this year in the playoffs?
Need I say anymore…….Blazers down by 23pts, Roy = 24pts 5ast 4reb 18pts in 4th
His Determination gets an official stamp…..
