In my opinion roy is very underrated and is very special to watch. roy is usually a quiet person but even though its preseason roy is frustrated and wants the ball more.

a player of his calibre can be considered underrated, but he very well might be.

Both him and Aldridge should of been on this summer’s USA team. (Both had injuries that excluded them from that even being possible)

They have a lot of bigs that keep getting injured and they have young promising players (Bayless and Batum). Roy is the linchpin that keeps this team in the win column.

As a Portland fan i think hes rated fine, maybe even a little overrated, hes not extremly effective without the ball, not an above average defender.

Hes rated about right at least by most peoples rankings ive seen in the 10-12 range.

I don’t know… I don’t think Roy doing his best LeBron or Wade impression is the best thing for the Blazers.

I don’t understand why playing off of the ball is so difficult for him… It’s not like he doesn’t get his fair share of isolations/clear outs and handle the ball majority of the time during crunch time. It’s too bad he’s not speaking out about how he wants to become a better defender this season, because he’s below average on that side of the ball.

Some players just have trouble getting into a groove playing off ball.  I use to have the same problem playing ball especially in high school.  I felt like the team was better with the ball in my hands then the kid they had playing PG who was only playing PG because he was too short to guard 2 guards because really he was just a shooter who could create his own shot but not make his teammates better.

Roy probably feels similar because he is better with the ball in his hands then Dre.  After watching Dre lead the Sixers to mediocrity that kept us from being able to draft high caliber talents like Durant, Horfords or the Westbrooks, Love, Lopez, Mayo, Gordons of the draft i became extremely resentful of Dre and all his on court winning intangibles and the fact that he may be the only good starting PG in the history of the league that can’t hit a 3 point shot.  He literally can’t shoot from 3 and its beyond me how somebody with his mid range shooting ability can’t even come close to being able to hit 3’s.  It one thing to be a bad 3 points shooter and its another thing to not even have it in your arsenal as a PG.

Dre is not a floor spacing PG like Blake was and I knew it would cause problems.  Dre is very ball dominant he’ll pound the ball until the end of the shot clock then either shoot or pass.  Him and Roy were a bad fit from the beginning.

But the positive with having Miller is that if Roy gets injured he is more then capable of keeping the boat afloat.  I dunno how Dre does it but he always finds a way to win.

With that said Portland has to find a way of moving Dre is Roy proves to be durable this year.  Dre is the worse type of PG too pair with Roy because Roy is so good with the ball in his hands and Dre is only effective with the ball in his hands.

I agree with you about them not being a good fit. However, if Roy wants to become a complete player, he has to get better at playing off of the ball too. He’s not LeBron or Wade and him clearing out became all too predictable. They have too much talent to stand around and watch him dribble.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Miller was moved this season though. He’s basically an expiring contract.
