Good question. I think Chauncey Billups. Similar skill sets and question marks coming out.

STRENGTHS: Shooting, discipline, character, desire, good, fluid athlete with potential to be great defensively, good size for PG position.

QUESTION MARKS: Can he win games running a team at the highest level?

Billups needed time to adjust to the NBA game, and I think Knight will need the same. I think coming in they both fit more of the mold of "great basketball players playing at the point guard position" than of traditional, pure point guards. That being said, guys like that will show up to work every day. Brandon Knight wants to be great, and most important he’s a winner. He’ll never lead the league in assists, but neither has Chauncey, and has still consistently been a winner and has a ring.

I agree, I think he is overrated unless I’m missing something here.  The UK games I watched he was a spot up 3 point shooter.  Rarely did I see him breaking his man down off the dribble.  But then again, I thought Deron Williams was picked too high in his draft, so I could definately be wrong here.

What?  When Jonas is averaging 8 and 5 in his 5th season, and Brandon Knight is on the cusp of being an allstar, and Bryan Colangelo has been fired….. Then we’ll see if the Raptors made a good pick.

Knight seemed like a safer bet than Jonas but there’s a chance that Knight ends up similar to Bayless.

Knight was one of the youngest guys in the draft and most of us had him going top 5 in the draft but with Cleveland taking Thompson at 5 and with Washington obviously not needing a PG and the 3 team trade then Knight fell to 8 where no doubt Detroit were delighted to take him.

To access his potential long term when he has not even played an NBA game or even signed an NBA contract is hard to say but if he becomes a solid complimentary starter type PG then I’d figure Joe Dumars would be happy.

Hey, just because Hamed Haddadi went Arvydas Sabonis on Korea’s national team (35 points, 18 rebounds, and 7 blocks), it doesn’t mean that Jonas’ performance against Korea’s junior level team is still anything a clear sign of future NBA greatness. The league is changing the foul rules in the new CBA. Nobody can blow a whistle against him. Opponets will not be allowed to play a center who weighs more than 215 lbs, and they won’t be able to body him up. The Raptors will hire hypnotists to make Bargnani, Bayless, and DeRozan think passing the ball is a good thing. Don’t be a hater!

Im a huge kentucky fan. Ive been watching them since ramel bradley and big morris were there. Knight just isnt a pass first point. What he does have is the tools to become one. Hes incredibly smart. When I watched kentucky he was a scoring point guard, rarely did he make a pass for an assist. Billups and Terry are great comparisons but I think Knight is faster than both and has a higher ceiling.

I honestly don’t think that he has too high a ceiling.  He lacks the explosiveness and ball handling ability to get by his defender, struggles to attack on the pick and roll, and is a poor finisher at the rim.  I also think Knight will struggle immediately due to his lack of pg skills, as he struggles in the drive and dish game, and doesn’t run the fast break well.

Knights game wasnt quite the quickest to me. His mechanics were kinda slow. But the kid can flat out ball, I say let him play a modified version of his game in the first year, coach him up during the season, and he’ll become a dominant point guard, except for when he plays D.Rose, D. Williams, Rondo, Paul, and Mo Williams<<<——- HELL NAW lol but honestly i think Knight needs just a bit more time to develop and let the game come to hom, by January he’ll be rolling

     i watched knight a lot last yr…

he does have a pretty quick first step…

his ball handling is only slightly above average for a guard…

a streak shooter who can spot up good…

i do want to see him slash more

a streak scorer to, can fill it up when hes hot…

keep in mind hes only 19 and will only get better

hes gnna get oppurtinties in detroit

Knight has good speed but the lack of power or a good crossover will make it difficult for him to get into the lane. He will be a dead eye shooter though, 16 PPG 6 APG is within his reach.

That wasn’t the only time that series that Terry dunked on Shaq actually. He got him one other time that I can remember.

On topic, I persona;;y think Knight is a little overrated. People see Rose, Reke, and Wall’s success and automatically expect Knight to be a stud because he’s a Calipari PG. I never see him being able to efficiently run a team as a pg but he’s definitwly a winner. He’ll find a way to be a contributor to a winning team IMO. Just not as a lead guard. Could be really good beside of a ballhandling 2 who makes good decisions so he can be allowed to spot up and come off of screens and curls like he showed an above average ability to do. He’ll ultimately have a Jet-Like career. Can play pg but FAR better suited as an offball scorer who handles occasional PG duties.

His best situation would a role like Terry found in this years playofs/finals.

I think it’s kinda funny that Knight got drafted by Dumars because I see him as being a very similiar player to Joe D. Both 6-3 combo guards with defensive ability, surprising strength, shooting ability and a high basketball IQ. Obviously that’s a best case scenario but I could definitly see Knight make a few all-star games due to his defense, intangibles and work ethic.

Joe Dumars was a much worse shooter than Knight if you compare when they entered the league. Dumars added the 3 pt shot over time, while Knight has it already. Dumars’ game was better than what showed in the stats sheet, while Knight’s will be worse than his stats(my opinion).

Not a bad pick, though, cause at 8 I didn’t see anyone better than him.
