Does anyone else see the comparison between Brandon Knight and OJ Mayo, other than myself? Im actually one of the few that likes Brandon Knight over Kyrie Irving. I understand that there are questions about Knight’s PG skills, while I dont think he will ever be a “pure PG” I do see him as a 20PPG type PG sorta like Gilbert Arenas. I expect him to follow the same footstep as Calapari’s PGs Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall and be a top 5 pick.

There are similarities between the 2 definitely. I do think that Knight is a more pure playmaker though. I actually think Knight can be along that Chauncey Billups or Gary Payton type though. Irving seems to be the best PG in this class though

he’s very underated. the boy was back to back Gatorade HS player of the year. knight is only 17 years old, he’s 2 years and 3 months younger than john wall. knight will shine under coach cal at kentucky.

Brandon Knight is a much better defensive prospect than OJ Mayo was when he came out of high school.

i think knight and oj are great mirror images of each other. when i watched knight in high school he didnt look like more of a pure playmaker tho than mayo. but then again his high school squad sucked and he pretty much had 2 drop 30 a game 4 them 2 even compete.

Knight is the best pg in his class IMO. Kyrie only got ranked ahead of him after the allstar games which isn’t the right way to rank a player. Knight has always been a very good play maker but didn’t do it as much because he didn’t have the weapons unlike kyrie who had a squad full of ballers including Micheal gilchrist. I think both will be good but I expect knight to show he’s the better pg like he has the past 4years

There is no reason for you to say Irving is the best PG in the class until wee see them all play in the NBA and at least in the NCAA. The only reason people arent saying Brandon Knight is the best of this class is because he ran out of media hype. people were saying Josh selby is the best because he is the most exciting. Its all about marketing and the truth is there are 5 or 6 PGs who could be the best of the class, only time will tell.

Now Stanfordhoops said Knight was the best, and the person that created this topic basically said Knight was the best PG in this class….So WHY do you feel the need to try and single me out? Curious to hear your reason

the dude is making SO FLA proud. Don’t look now but elite athletes are coming out of SO FLA in basketball now, not just football. Hopefully with Lebron and Isiah in town, Miami hoops picks up, just wish the Canes could actually get some people who can ball. too bad we have the lamest coach in the whole ACC. Hate that fool.

I love the Gary Payton comparison for BK. One thing about him, that people underestimate but it makes all the difference long term, is that kid is rock solid. Super cool customer, works hard, and is team first. He just understands that when he is the best player on the team, he needs to take alot of shots.

Who are the people who disagree so strongly with this statement? I like the comparison actually. Mayo meets Billups type player.

I really like the young billups comparison although Knight is a better athlete. Billups became special though when he began to focus on the intangible parts of being a PG, Knight will need to find that. Mayo however has awful PG skills even though he’s trying to improve on that.
